Thank you. I work with homeless people who most often are faithful believers in Jesus. However, year after year they remain homeless, despite their prayers to God and the help of others. I can definitely see why people would think God is distant.

Angry or otherwise, Christ is going to judge mankind and most will be cast into hell. So I see it more as a kind of doomsday

I am not so sure about the casting I to hell. Jesus said on the cross “forgive them. They don’t know what they are doing”. There is a mercy full God speaking to all of us; past, present and to come.

It would probably be helpful if we understood that God's wrath emerges from his love. It is the response to our embracing Death when his loving will for us, our neighbors, and creation itself is Life. Joy is the celebration of the goodness of being and ought to be the baseline experience of a Christian. Choosing death, generated by sin, is the repudiation of existence itself. Small wonder a loving God is outraged by this .

Wow, you still don’t get it. After a life time of education and experience that brings you to get up on your pulpit to pontificate about this and that thinking weaving God and Jesus into your diatribe makes it holy and gives it meaning. What you said has no meaning or basis in what the gospel is. You don’t see or comprehend the simplicity of the basic meaning of what “this” is all about. You convey nothingness that invokes an emotional response in some people who also don’t know any better. That’s why you’re churches are empty on Sunday. What a waste.

@ The gospel. To urge people to establish and maintain a relationship with God though prayer. To be transformed from within from that relationship. No one really understands this in fact, in most cases, it’s heresy. This person isn’t saying anything that’s relevant to God Jesus, or the gospel message, which is repent you repent by seeing and changing. This man’s diatribe does nothing in the way of someone coming to that realization.
