Professor Jacopo Buongiorno is the Director MIT Center for Advanced Nuclear Energy Systems (CANES), instructor and researcher about peaceful uses of nuclear energy, and an author of several influential studies including an assessment of the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Plant for zero-carbon electricity, desalination, and hydrogen production, which was influential in securing extension of its operational licence.
