Nuclear Rain Peter Rattray 2011

Nuclear Rain.
This is a minimalistic short audio visual that use only three images and two backgrounds to communicate the effect of nuclear fall out and the long term potential effect on children. The inspiration came from a sculpture by Chen Wenling of China that was exhibited at this years 2011 Sculpture by the Sea entitled Chilhood Horizon. The work is described as a "celabratory call to embrace the inner child in every viewer".
I photographed this sculpture on the opening day at Tamarama Beach, it was cold, windy and raining. The raindrops on the sculpture however created an additional purity to the sculpters intent. It is incumbant of us as we continue to use nuclear power that all possible safe guards are in place to prevent further nuclear accidents. Our children and their children are the the ones who will have to deal with the Nuclear rain.
