I was a huge fan of In Flames 15 years ago, but everything they have released since A Sense of Purpose has been absolute garbage (everything since Clayman hasn''t been great either), but Dark Tranquility consistantly put out solid albums even after all this time. They get a lot of flak from purists for their heavy keyboard use, and softer sections that can get a bit cheesey, but they are at heart still a melodic death metal band, and still putting out great music 30 years later.

I feel ya! and my PERSONAL opinion ( i don't want to start a shitstorm) - Stanne is far better frontman and vocalist than Anders. I know Dark Tranquillity from the to the bottom and there is no single song that Stanne wasn't in shape in it. Amazing vocalist
@Cloudkicker013 жыл бұрын
@@TribeFiveMusic I have mix feelings about this, I know a lot of people are silently angry at current In Flames (like me), and those people tend to forget how powerful and intense Anders's Vocals were (lets say from TJR to ASOP), I think Anders is a god like vocalist as well as Stanne, very different but equally powerful, the different here is that Stanne took better care of his voice, remember that Anders did a surgery I think in 2001 to his vocal cords, those things affect you at old age.

This gives me the same feelings that Colony did when I first heard In Flames, and the same feeling I got from hearing The Mind's I by Dark Tranquillity. Its like I've been blasted 20 odd years into the past. So glad I survived long enough to hear this.

@fredmaddog28143 жыл бұрын
Lol In Flames is great and very influential on MDM, but Dark Tranquillity, Eucharist, Dissection Dismember, Cyanotic, Amorphis, At the Gates and others had all dropped fully formed MDM releases between 89 and 92, before In Flame's first demo in 93, so jesper is hardly the father.

@@fredmaddog2814 lol..bro..I've seen "JESPER LIVE"!! FUCKEN INCREDIBLE LIVE!! what alot of fans and people forget! Is that Jesper wrote alot of inflames hit records and songs! Its obvious that when he left inflames..they went to shit..not aggressive anymore..or catchy..but very water down generic approach...iam beyond thrilled to see him RISE UP WITH THE OTHER BAD ASS PLAYERS!!! "IN JESPER WE TRUST"!!✊👊💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🔥🔥🔥😈
@fredmaddog28143 жыл бұрын
@@joelopez9627 As I say, old In Flames is great, Lunar Strain, Subterranean and The Jester Race are all amazing albums, but I just think that other bands deserve credit for the creation of MDM (especially Eucharist)

@Dawn Razor Yea forgot to but them. Great early MDM a-la Cenotaph or Dismember. I know jesper did bass in them, but idk who wrote the riffs and such.

In Flames have always been one of my favorite artists ever. But sadly they ceased to truly be In Flames after Jesper left. Their discography was nearly flawless up to that point. With each subsequent album, they have drifted further away from being the melodic death metal pioneers that we loved so much. It is very apparent just how important Jesper was to their sound. I’ve sampled some of their recent stuff, it’s utterly unrecognizable as “In Flames”. So to see all these guys back together again, making fucking kickass metal, is a dream I never thought would come true. I cannot fucking WAIT to hear this album when it’s released!!!

Soooo happy to see all these guys playing together. Especially seeing Jesper and Stanne together again, man it gives old school Lunar Strain vibes even if the music doesn't necessarily go in that direction. Dark Tranquillity is my favorite band ever and early-mid era In Flames is the music that got me into more extreme metal to begin with. This is awesome.

I know he’ll never see this but I’m really proud of Jesper especially for getting back into the studio making great riffs and music again. Kudos to the rest of the boys as well you guys kick ass. I hope one day I can see you guys live in North Carolina, USA 🤘🏻

The melody of the harmony guitars lead is the same as the chorus of Full Moon Shoals by Soilwork. Good song by the way and REALLY glad to see Jesper, Peter and Daniel around again.

Serious bang of Insomnium off this track! That's no bad thing. Nothing is going to change the world anymore, especially as we old In Flames fans get older! This was an enjoyable listen. I will try and catch you live as and when the plague permits. Looking forward to an album.

So mutch this! The Intro sounds In-Flamesish (post Clayman), the verse as well. But especially the chorus: So mutch Insomnium in there.

I love how in some metal music videos, the drummer shot shows the drummer is super chill, just grooving, like playing is the easiest thing in the world to them, but the camera is like violently having a seizure in an earthquake.

Mikael Stanne and Jesper Strömblad make a good combo here. It's like combining that In Flames and Dark Tranquillity sound gives quite a nice break. And this made me miss Göteborg, which I saw throughout the video. Hope that when I go there next time, I will see my fave bands.
@oBsRVr6663 жыл бұрын
I think the Dark Tranquillity sound has the upper hand in this song but yeah what else would you expect from a melodeath piece with Michael as the singer, eh? :) It's a good song but I hope that we will get some more old school In Flames melodies (Jesper Solos) in there when the album is released. But what do I know ... I am pretty sure it's gonna be good no matter what they will come up with.
