Korpiklaani has such genious and poetic lyrics that it makes even a native finnish speaker think about them for a moment.
@thomashaapalainen41084 жыл бұрын
That's how I feel about opeth and their lyricist is not a native english speaker. Puts the other 500 million native english speakers to shame. I also speak finnish as a second language and Jonne has a simplistic and natural way of putting complex emotion into relatable yet symbolic messages.

As a person who understands nothing of the Finnish language I really enjoyed reading the lyrics along with this song. The structure and annunciations of their words are so different from ours, in an interesting way. Great song, the sound of it reminds me of a world we should all strive to get back to.
@Perttu936 жыл бұрын
The new leaves of the birch tree were left at my old home One could count the day of sowing from them easily. Back then, on top of the house the crops were bathing in smoke crops under which once was the burn- cleared earth. One's step rose without heed of sorrows and memory wouldn't even know them from one's tracks. Still, for a moment in the wheels of joy, one's mind wanted to know: Is my home here now? In the roof there's gold, something that's known all the way from childhood is burning to us. There the nights sit out the one, whose sorrows subside In the lap of whom you sway all spring long. I want to run the meadows like in the most beautiful days of July There is still time left where you swing next to me. Further away I hear, there the echoes of the wind slowly rise their heads The evenings won't dance, if they lied in the ice of the last winter all the way in June. The branches of the birch tree from the road of the village brought a fragrance that not any lad can bring. Back then joy sat in the benches of the sauna, the smoke ran along every cane through the lands of my home. My steps rose, I keep them in my memories even though mercurial sometimes is the feeling of them Gray thoughts can stalk them, but I won't forget them, no matter where I may go. All the land is gold, known all the way from childhood is burning to us. (chorus) It glides into the air, hushed wings like in dainty blueness rush at my leaves It slices the crops, shines once it's beauty, until fading is everything that is to come. --- So basically for me this song is a praise of summer days in his childhood/country home.
@MrSamulai6 жыл бұрын
"Tässä kotiniko lie nyt?" might better translate to "Is this all there is to my home?" or "Is this my home after all?" And "Palava" would, in the context, mean "vivid" or "fervent". Other than that, that's pretty good work.

Although the fourth video of a track on Korpiklaani's new album Kulkija was relased recently, "Kotikonnut" is still my favourite song of those four. However I don't really understand Finnish, this song makes me happy every single time I am listening to it. Because of the harmony of the vocals and the instruments I even call this song a masterpiece. So I wanna say "Thank you" or "Kiitos" -- for all who don't know, that means "Thank you" in Finnish -- for that wonderful masterpiece! I'm expecting more songs making me happy! All the best from Austria/Itävalta and enjoy your day!

From description: About 'Kotikonnut' ("Homestead"): During his journey, a wanderer yearningly looks back on his home, childhood and the beauty of everything. He remembers running with his girl on the meadow, believing it to last till the end of times. Although his home is now the road and a carriage run by joy, he will still always remember the happiness of his home and youth. At the time the moon was golden, shining everywhere at night, lighting up the otherwise dark countryside and the forest. The wanderer eventually accepts that everything that comes, will one day fade into a distant memory.
