The Parachute Rigger (1967)

I was a Rigger from 94 to 02. I packed 3700 parachutes when I was in the 82nd. I was also asigned to the 24th QM Co and 612 QM Co. This old film is awesome. I Will Be Sure Aways.

I’ve got a decent jump log in the 307 Eng Bn 82nd Abn during that same timeframe. Never had a malfunction. Thank you. Can’t say the same for some of our heavy drops. I’ve seen a SEE truck get vaporized.I’m pretty sure the heavy equipment operator was okay with that though.

I was in the Army for over 12 years and was a parachute rigger for over or near 11 1/2 years and never regretted it until i, myself, had a run in with the big brass about going to jump master school and had already been trained and qualified by the Air Force to b one and that is where the trouble began, but the never ending story never left me as i got out in 1981 and also terminated myself for if u r never scared and never have butterflies, that is where the problems start and also, the brass never really recognized the certification by the Air Force of my stuff that was and i did for the jump master stuff and i will always b a red hat in my heart, my body, my soul, and my heart always until i pass from this here world and Always Remember to rig and Run, heheheeheeee!!!!

I was a heavy drop rigger in the 82nd from 87-94. Did the loads that dropped into Panama during Just Cause. Cool video that showed many things we still did when I was in the Army

I served as a Parachute Rigger our motto is Always Sure!!! I never jumped with my packed main parachute always with my reserve parachute

I have the most upmost respect for our battalion HQ riggers. Us 11Bravos never gave the riggers any shit when they walked through with their red rigger hats. They have more jumps than us infantrymen.

I was at Daenner Kaserne Kaiserslautern Germany and in the 426th in the 101st Airborne. Riggers were around me at both duty stations. When i saw them at the PX and Dining Facility i woild ask them about what Riggers do and how they enjoy the MOS. Not one of them would even answer one word to me. They acted like a secret society. Thank goodness for KZbin for finally answering those questions i had 40 years ago.

1967 was the final year of the real Navy gold winged PR before the gold PR badge was allowed to be worn by Marine Corps parachutists instead of the Army basic parachutist they actually receive. PR school is no longer a requirement for the badge as requested by the Marine Force Recon Commander in 1968.

I was in the Australian Army for over twenty years, one of my best memories was my first ever static line jump, I Absolutely loved it, from there I went onto do a military free fall course & then I used to jump civilian on the weekends.
