In My childhood I remember watching this great documentary series... I'm very sentimental about this. How much I learned then with each wonderful episode, like the world was unraveling before My very own eyes. How times have surely changed. What fond memories.

Marshall also raised and equipped the largest ground and air force in the history of the U.S. and was called “the organizer of victory” by Winston Churchill.

Always a pleasure to review a historical docmentary of American leadership. To me, Marshall was not the colorful leader like Pershing or Patton, he was more like Eisenhower and Bradley. His role was defined and most necessary to achieve results sought by U.S. doctrine and world peace.

Marshall had an Infantry focus. Patton had an Armor focus. Arnold had an Aerial focus. Eisenhower had a Global focus.

Read Lord Alanbrooke's War Diaries for an entirely different view of Marshall (and Ike). It was AB who successfully fought off Marshall from what would've been a disaster: a proposed invasion of Normandy in 1942. AB was solely responsible for the successful strategy of winning N. Africa, invading Italy through Sicily, and then landing at Normandy. AB thought Stalin and N. Africa's Smuts were the best strategists among the Allied leadership. Ike eventually grew in his esteem, not Marshall.

I'd recommend reading Marshall's auto bio General of the Army: George C. Marshall, Soldier and Statesman

Marshall was a desk jockey General and as Secretary of State was soft on Communism(Alger Hiss) and anti-Israel.

Hard to argue those points, but Marshall DID facilitate United States preeminence. He did his job well.

Marshall was nothing more than a poltican. Patton make's him look silly and useless.

Based on your epic writing skills, you look silly and useless.

Not to diminish Patton's accomplishments in any way, but you do realize that without the organizational skills and strategic vision of this "silly and useless" politician neither Patton nor any other US general in WWII for that matter would ever have been in a position to pull of their tactical feats in the first place....
