Thank you very much for your kind comment, appreciate it very much. For size reference, please compare with sea floor and background objects such as pebbles, leaves and grains of sand. Common size of small nudibranchs is somewhat between 5-15mm. If you like nudibranchs and other critters may I kindly suggest our Tawali video from Papua New Guinea: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZmrQd6WLitSKasU Wishing you all the best and best regards, Markus

Sandra & Markus Trachsel have you dove in Ambon, Lembeh and/or Komodo National Park? The muck diving in Ambon and Lembeh was incredible. Komodo, a nice mix - the mantas was a bucket list for me. Still takes my breath away. I’m just a GoPro girl (landlocked in Colorado), but am so impressed with the quality of your macro work. If you’re interested, refer to my KZbin for vids, esp shark diving in Beqa Lagoon, Fiji. 💜 Take care and happy diving!

Dear Ornery Oh, thank you very much! Yes, Lembeh is our favorit place as well, and Ambon was great too. We did the Komodo trip a few years ago, but must say we have to do it again. Before we were on Trip from Flores to Alor, also a great video on our channel and over new year we just came back from Raja Ampat and Misool. I think we only saw mantas there, so many mantas! We will release this video around May. Wow your shark diving video is stunning, congratulations. I gladly subscribed to your channel. Yes, Fiji is definitely on our bucket list too. Thanks alot and best regards, Markus

Sandra & Markus Trachsel Raja was the last stop on our 3 mos trip. We began in Palau, then Truk Lagoon, and Yap. Then Puerta Galera, Philippines, a couple nights in Singapore (wow!) Then we began a 6 week trek in Indonesia; Manado, Bangka, Lembeh, Ambon, Komodo (our 1st livaboard), Bali and then Raja Ampat. We stayed at the Meridian there in Waigeo...beautiful but if I’m ever blessed to go back at some point, I’d like to go by way of livaboard. It’s so vast and so many sites still undiscovered. Minsool’s supposed to be great, as is Triton Bay. Galapagos and Solomon Islands 🇸🇧 are on the ol’ bucket list for sure! Happy chatting with you, and thanks for the follow! More videos to come on my channel as well. Take care!

Sandra & Markus Trachsel oh, we weren’t lucky with the oceanic mantas in Raja..,could see them flopping on the surface from the dive boat, but didn’t see them on our dives. Reef mantas in Komodo. We DID get to hike to the scenic point at Piaynemo...stunning! Similar to the Rock Islands in Palau. I feel very blessed to have the chance to see those parts off the world, and fell in love with the Asian culture and people! Everything in Bali is just beautiful...including the people. So kind! Weaver’s Dive and Travel, Boulder, CO - the BEST at dive travel. We couldn’t have done that trip without them. Forever grateful!

@SandraMarkusTrachsel3 жыл бұрын
Dear Robert, thank you very much for your wonderful comment. You are correct, only few corals and fish because Tulamben is famous for muck and wreck diving to see small critters and nudibranchs. But from that point of view it is one of the best places. But Bali in total offers a good variety of dive sites (for example see our video about Menjangan here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pnXMc6JrfZKAe8k ). Yes, we highly recommend this place in order to see nudibranch and critters. Also the guides are totally trained to find even the tinyest nudibranch for you. Wishing you all the best and best regards, Markus

Love your video. The macroshots are amazing. Can you help me how do you get such steady macro shots?
@SandraMarkusTrachsel Жыл бұрын
Thank you very much for your wonderful comment, appreciate it very much! So glad to hear that you enjoy watching our videos. If you like nudibranchs and macro in general, then pleaes don't miss our video about Mafia Island in Tanzania. It is a great place for macro diving as well. Regarding your question about filming steady macro videos, well, there is no easy and simple way to get these results. I am getting my 1000 dive soon and I am doing macro photography and videography for over 15 years now. So I assume that this is now paying off slowly. Then of course there is a lot of stabilization work done in post processing of the videos as well. This footage of course is not straight out of the camera, but the steadier the source material the better the result after post processing as well. Also one thing to keep in mind, that I use a very big and heavy camera rig (but which is completely neutrally boyant underwater). The mass of that rig helps a lot to keep it stable and steady. So for me all these factors combined gives the results we show here. Wishing you all the best and best regards, Markus

I know what they eat but does anything eat Nudibranchs? I love watching ur videos.👍🏻Nudibranchs are so beautiful it’s hard to believe that they have no eyes but get along just fine and have no problem finding food. 👵🏻🇺🇸👏🏼 Do you ever see those cute little Lumpsucker fish ?
@SandraMarkusTrachsel3 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much for your kind comment, appreciate it very much. Nudibranchs are sometimes eaten by other Nudibranchs and for sure other predetors as well. For example if a parrot fish is eating corals and a nudibranch just happen to be in the wrong spot it will be eaten as well. They have a little light-sensitive eye-patch under the rhinophores that enables them to see at least some sort of light, but mostly it is their rhinophores (the antennas) that help them to orientated. They "smell" their food and other nudibranchs for mating. With best regards, Markus

Dear nyfrogman, thank you so much for your wonderful comment and your kind subscription, appreciate it very much! Yes, Bali Tulamben is one of our favorite places for nudibranchs. We show our equipment in this video here in great details: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qGbHdYKnq8p7kLM No, we do not use the macro wet lens anymore, it's too shallow depth of field for video. Hi Kathy, in Thulamben there are hardly any corals but mostly dark vulcanic sediments. In the video you can even see the vulcano erupting a bit. That morning the air was filled with a cloud of volcanic ash. Also the ash settles down on bottom of the sea and makes it appear dark. Wishing you all the best and best regards, Markus
