In this video Daisy and I went metal detecting with some friends at an old plantation site. We hit the jackpot and found a pile of flat buttons as well as some really old coins. Daisy found a Spanish silver coin from the 1700s and I dug a copper Rosa Americana coin from 1722, exactly 300 years old! How exciting this metal detecting adventure was for us. We took the boat out to an island and we almost got stranded, haha. Thankfully the boat didn't sink and we made it back safe. Stay tuned for more videos with Daisy and Others.

Great finds. Looked like quite the adventure! I found a 1722 Rosa Americana 2 pence at a 1775 home permission I have, what a big coin! Made for American settlers, but they didn't like them and many vendors wouldn't accept them as they thought they were fake due to the size!

What I love about detecting is one never knows what will be found next - which makes each expedition into the field very exciting. And except for the initial equipment purchases, the rest is all one of doing good research, nurturing landowner connections, gas and time, etc. And when you hold something in your hands you know the last human to do so lived a century or more ago - it's truly chilling - cause you're thinking, who was it, what did they look like, under what circumstances did they lose it, were they being chased, shot at, etc.
