This is the only channel that I have set up to alert me when new posts are added. I think its cool that nugget appreciates the way things were made back in the early days. Words like "awesome" and "cool" say it all. The Earth has become his time capsule, relics hidden beneath the soil for decades. Best wishes little man!!

That bottle dump is a great find, Mike, you lucky dog. I'd be there every chance I got and wouldn't give up on it until I checked every square foot. Digging bottles is just such a fun thing to do. As you know, you just never can tell what you'll find there next. I hope you clean the place up, and take us along for the ride! Keep 'em comin'! DW

Ben Clark That it is, or I must've been half-blind during my stretch in Marching Band in high school. LOL! Yeah, those clipped right on to the instruments - usually brass instruments like trumpet, trombone, baritone horn, tuba etc., but could also be found on saxophones and other reed instruments. The rod end slipped into a clip mounted on the instruments themselves and the clip end held the sheet music in place at, more or less, eye level when playing. They had some application in concert band settings, but those clip-on stands were usually used for marching-type band applications.

Congratulation Abbey ! That is a huge piece of silver. I dug 1 only; 1790's, bent, mangled, with animal teeth marks all over it. Weighs just under US 90% half dollar, 90% a 1700's utensil standard. What is the weight of that silver SHOVEL ! Please be careful, chasing silver is addictive. No caution needed if that spoon just caught you. Nugget, if you are lucky Abbey's silver sensor was activated. I have seen diggers go from no silver to LOTS of silver. Do not know why, mostly E-trac... just kidding !

What city name on the bottom? All of those bottles were made in Chattanooga, Tennessee. If you find one from Alaska or Hawaii then those bottles came from there. All the other bottles were delivered to the different bottling plants with mixed loads of bottles with different cities' names on the bottom. My grandfather worked for Coke for 40 years. I worked at the plant during the summers and on weekends in the winter. @ 5:32 the harp shaped clip is to hold sheet music on a musical instrument while marching in a band.
