Aren't we all! Stairs never get easier unfortunately. I tend not to go to fundamentals much these days, but RevitPure and LinkedIn learning are great resources for those that I'd recommend to iron out the fundamentals that tend to trip most of us up. One big thing with stairs is that if you need to add treads to flights below the last one, just start the stair again. That's the most devious thing I find in them. That and stair railings will almost never quite behave how you try to get them to - they're just a fundamentally awkward/somewhat broken tool.

Hi, Everyone; how do you usually set up and check your templates? I saw that sometimes, I put some elements, but I liked the idea of having a completely small building with all the elements and some views in sheets to check everything. At this point, we discussed having a template WITH model and one without so that when you start, you can have the template empty without the elements (floor, roof, etc..) Do you think it makes sense? I was thinking instead of two template having one and one dynamo script to delete al the elements in the space :D

For me each building is so different that really we can only begin with grids and basic views/sheets set up for a typical page size. I personally do a 7.5x7.5m grid to the extends of an A1, but no modelled elements. I have all the system families in there (wall types etc.) and common loadable families, but a lot of loadable families in a library to keep the template light. The only time I had building templates was volume housing, where we made 'starter house' templates for the typical designs, so we could just modify them to suit client requests. We'd have it all set up and documented for construction, then just redocument what changed.

Can you please do an example collect using sets/dictionaries? I think its faster than lists unless Dynamo works better w/lists?thanks

Dictionaries generally are faster if you are regularly asking for a set of data from an element that can be represented by a given key. Personally in Python I generally prefer to work with lists or custom classes which at times can be a bit slower vs dictionaries (marginally) but tend to make for more readable code. I'l try to use them in a future video however to show how they can be used. Likely in March.

I'm not 100% of when this would happen typically. My thinking is you could delete the viewports from the extra sheet, then recreate a new sheet with the two sheet viewports using the packing method provided by the Dynamo developers maybe? See a thread here with view packing: forum.dynamobim.com/t/sheet-bynamenumbertitleblockandviews-cannot-pack-views/21324 There would be errors if the views cannot fit together on the sheet.
