Playback at x0.25 speed for a better notion of scale. The animation itself is really good although it missed the plasma ball at the beginning.

Also, in reality, the sound wouldn't be simultaneous with the fireball. In the Trinity test, the observers were 18,000 yards, or about 10 miles from the hypocenter ( the term "ground zero" was not yet coined). The fireball itself was incandescent for less than 5 seconds. As a result, the the sound of the blast didn't reach them for over a minute, long after the desert had returned to it's pre-dawn darkness. And unlike movie depictions of atomic blasts, the sound was much more like a sharp, piercing crack of thunder than a long, low rumble

Nice work. The light, textures and mushroom cloud motion are just fine. Would you allow me to suggest you a few change to make it looks like more realistic ? First Make the flash last longer and dissipate slowly. Make it appear instantaneously right from the beginning instead of having it appear 1/2 seconds after the detonation. Make the mushroom cloud motion about 2 and 3 times slower. An explosion that size and watched this far away always seems like it's moving slowing. Add condensation rings that move apart the epicenter in all directions. They have to be very bright at the beginning when they are near the fireball and become greyish as they move away from it. Once the rings radius reach about two-three times the mushroom head radius , they stop spreading away and dissipate relatively quickly. Then right after, one smaller static ring condensate near the mushroom stem and last until the full mushroom dissipate. Then, as the mushroom cloud is cooling, add ice caps that appear at the top of the "head" then go down slowly to form "bells" and "skirt structures" around the stem. This phenomenon causes the mushroom cloud to become progressively entirely white starting from the top to the bottom While the mushroom cloud is rising, it become thicker as a whole, we shouldn't see holes in the stem at this point as we see in your simulation. Finally make the mushroom cloud stop rising at a certain height and make it spread horizontally. Make the stem and the head deviates in a certain direction. In real life it always happen because of dominant winds. Theses advices are for a nuclear explosions in the kiloton range. For multi-megatons blasts, there are other visual effects that comes into play.

I see a fireball appear above the ground out of nowhere. I would think you could see the shot tower. The bang needs a delay to convey the distance involved. The flash should wash out the image completely for a second or so.

Also, delay the sound. Like thunder, it arrives a long time after the flash. And in the flat desert, doesn't rumble so much (less to echo off). The cloud itself is silent.

The fireball and mushroom cloud looks good, but it's missing the bright flash of light before the fireball. Also, it doesn't make sense for us to hear the explosion before the shockwave hits. The shockwave IS the sound.

The sound should be delayed how ever far the explosion is to the viewer at roughly 340m/s

Only one thing is missed. The bright flash at the beginning. The rest of this animation is very good.

That and the center column isn't rising into the mushroom. His just sort of dissipates into nothing pretty fast. Scale is off a bit with the speed. Audio needs a ton of work...but yeah I get it's a CGI demonstration.

The roiling dust/smoke details in the shroomhead look out of scale, too large. It doesn't look large like K or M ton, looks like it's at most, 20" tall. But hey, I couldn't do it and it still looks cool.
