So I live in St. George Utah. I've lived here since the mid 90's. The people who got sick are known around here as "down-winders" as they were effected down wind from the test sites. My grandmother lived in a small town in Nevada called Pioche between the test sites and St. George and was effected by the radiation. There are so many stories around here of cancer deaths and strange issues with livestock. It was a sad thing to happen to a wonderful small town. In Nye County Nevada there are places in the desert that you cant get to because its fenced off and under surveillance and you wouldn't want to go there. Its possible to still find traces of radiation in the sand around here especially in the dunes.
@dawsynasay48418 күн бұрын
I live in Cedar City, Utah. My grandparents had relatives in Pioche and they remember seeing the mushroom clouds on a weekly basis. There was a farm west of Cedar where the cattle were found dead one morning due to radiation poisoning. The entire southwest region of Utah is a radioactive cesspit.

Nuketown will always have a special place in my heart. I remember back in 2010 when the game first came out, one of the guys in the barracks had an Xbox (shout outs to you, Floodsy, if you ever see this), and we would all huddle around and take turns playing. One day, we were on Nuketown, and I bet one of my guys ten bucks that I could throw a tomahawk across the map and kill somebody, and lo and behold, we all freaked the hell out! 😂 Good times.

It would be kinda cool if treyarch, or COD, released a zombie only game. Not new zombies, but just buy only the zombies from each game, and not have to buy the whole game to just play zombies
@officialnsj50998 күн бұрын
This would never happen. I’d absolutely love it as a zombies vet, but no. The key reason is activision owns COD all the way through now and treyarch are unable to do this by themselves, which I believe if the community begged enough treyarch would do. BUT since it’s activisons final say, they would NEVER separate them as they know a good portion of all players who buy certain CODS only buy them for the zombies. Hence why treyarch now does zombies on every COD game ever now regardless of the studio bringing out the next COD. It sucks, but we’ll never have the luxury of this great idea

currently at 5:12 but here's my theory. So Venus may be a codename for a location, as the "source" referenced is most likely Element 115. Given the extra-terrestrial nature of this element it would make sense to assign it an otherworldly codename. As for the drill, considering the volatile nature of Element 115, it's possible that when extraction began the disturbance caused by manipulating the element was strong enough to tear open a dimensional rift pulling the drill and other nearby materials into another dimension. This may have caused the decay of reality around this site, which is why this map feels so chaotic, as it may have been "pulled out of sync" with its corresponding timeline. Hence the randomization of Perk-a-Colas and Pack-a-Punch. This may even correspond with the downfall of Group 935, which was influenced by the abuse of Element 115. Like the conflict between Richtofen and Maxis causing timelines to split, drilling for Element 115 at Venus may have triggered a cataclysmic shift in the fabric of reality.

What makes it even more wild is when you realize in the zombies universe, the mannequins were sentient and maintaining Nuketown while nobody was around, but they were programmed to remain still whenever humans were present. So they essentially lived there and anytime we were playing on the map they were simply remaining dormant so we wouldn’t detect them. Once we started shooting their heads off they decided to fight back as we were literally killing them.

You also have the telephones where the presidents speak in ascension and yuri being at the pentagon makes sense because just before the crew arrives at ascension gersh has just been sucked and yuri used the kazimir to tp to 5.

For anyone who likes cold war history or is just interested in nuclear bombs/explosions, I recommend y’all watch the 1983 movie “The Day After”. Its posted for free on youtube last time I checked. If you’re still reading this then here’s a quick summary: it takes place in Kansas City/Lawrence (I live in KC and go to school downtown this movie had me tweaking) and it basically shows the U.S. being attacked by the Soviet Union using nuclear bombs giving the people little time to react and it fully shows the effects of emps and downtown Kansas City and lawrence (I think) being blown up w/ a few huge mushroom clouds followed by a few long minutes of people being vaporized by the explosion including a mom and baby. After the explosion it shows what hospital life would be like as well as bunker life. Overall it’s a great movie that everyone should go watch if you haven’t already.

I can't believe this wasn't mentioned but the ORIGINAL inspiration for Nuketown was from the movie "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull". Indy enters a strange town in the middle of the Nevada desert and finds that all of its inhabitants are mannequins. Knocking one over, he and the Soviets searching for him, quickly realize they're in a Nuketown. A lot of these were built in the 1950s, away from civilization to test the effects of nuclear bombs on ordinary people. Without this real-life history and thar scene from Indiana Jones, I highly doubt Nuketown would have ever made it into Black Ops.
