What is the cost of the coalesce function comparing to use a variable for the null value in the select?

Cost of the Coalesce function is higher than use for the NULL Indicator variable in the SELECT Statement in Cobol Program. It is advised to use Null Indicator in spite of Coalesce in imbedded SQL Query, But many times Developer uses Coalesce as well because it does not required manual check and verification ( IF ELSE in Cobol Program) of NULL occurrence by unknowingly sacrificing CPU performance. Thank You !!

Coalesce spelling is wrong in the presented query,and we can use VALUE function as well for handling null values .Deepak-ur videos are illustrative but I don't mean to point you though just a suggestion hope you are simultaneously working on your communication skills as there seems to be some pronunciation glitch

Yes, You are right ! COALESCE function works the same way as VALUE and have the same syntax as I explained in video. The COALESCE function returns the first argument that is not null. VALUE can be used as a synonym for COALESCE. Generally we use COALESCE to adheres the ANSI standards. Thank You !
