Numa Pompilius was the second legendary king of Ancient Rome and unlike Romulus before him, he sought to rule through peace and harmony. There are those that believe that Numa Pompilius was a conduit for the gods themselves and that he spoke with their words.

Numa Pompilius was a wonderful person & great leader... He cared about all of his subjects... I wish the world had more leaders that craved their countries living in peace with each other... It would be amazing...

The GOAT of all Romans. The greatest and most underrated historical figure in all of human history. If he hadn't burned his 14 books we would be living in a completely different alternate historical timeline and Numa would be remembered as a philosopher greater than Plato and a king greater than Alexander or Caesar. (Just my opinion feel free to disagree)

Numa Pompilius most of what we know about him comes from Titus Livius, however he based on legend. Archeologists should research more about the early kings. What we know about Pompilius is that under Pompilius Rome experienced 43 years of peace, he founded religious colleges, wasn't a warlike as Romulus, built the temple of janus and added January and February to the calendar. He was a spiritual man and moved de vestal virgins to Rome to bring peace to Rome.

Perhaps it was likely esoteric ideas and experiences that they believed their general public lacked enough context to understand, like conversations with Egeria or visions of Gods that would be misunderstood without particular esoteric knowledge.

Good video but bad pronunciations. I recommend going on Wikipedia and wiktionary to learn how the names really sounded. Like in ancile the "c" never sounded like "s" instead it would have had a "k" or "g" sound. In Latin "c" always sounded like a "k" or "g". Also égeria (eigeria in old latin) had an "ei" sound like the "ei" in "neighbour" and the "g" was never pronounced like "dj" instead like "k" or "g" as in "gate". I hope this helps.

There is no real evidence that he actually existed. Myth and legend have their place in our culture, but let's not pretend it's history.
