Jack, your tours are amazing and the boats themselves just keep getting better and better. This is truly great for a 30 meter yacht. It really feels like a 50 meter one. I’d go for diesel electric just because of the extended range I suppose. And at least some eco friendliness

A very stylish explorer yacht and that beach club and flybridge deck are incredible. I'm less convinced about the pilot house in terms of visibility and connection to the rest of the yacht. Also it's a bit weird that the massive TV in the lounge was so far offset from the sofa. As usual though it was a brilliant tour with the best production values in the industry 👏👏👏

Some real innovation here. So many features to love. Amazing space for a 30m. Headroom and upper deck a little worrying for me if you are tall and like to entertain large groups. Headroom looks very low in the main saloon. You said towering headroom but I feel like if you reached up you would have easily pressed your palm flat to the roof liner. The dark color doesn't help. Its probably comparable to other boats of that size and maybe that dark grey makes it feel lower. How did it feel in person? Did that light fixture over the lounge make you want to stoop or duck as you pass under it? The massive entertaining area on the upper deck, could be such an amazing party space. I would think it could be well served with a dumb waiter, a dedicated serving area and a day head. Imagine 40 guests up top having to walk through 3 entertaining zones packed with other guests (Upper deck, Rear dining, Saloon) to access the small day head below. A head located right against the Upper deck roof pillar to port would take away from the open space feel the least. All crew would need to ferry food and beverage through the pilothouse as the rear stairs are clogged with guests usual movement and the added traffic coming to and from the downstairs day head. A dumb waiter would help immensely if an upper deck head wasn't present. There is no serving space for crew to prepare drinks and food up top without being bumped into by guests. Perhaps forward on the starboard where you said it was blocked would be a good position for a proper bar, close to the pilothouse stairs that the crew would have to ferry the supplies through.
@EdwardTilleyАй бұрын
I was waiting for this review and it didn't disappoint. I noticed that you didn't mention the MSRP? Hybrid is the obvious way to go, and I'd rather see a B'yond 37 styled tender/toy deck than a side door garage just because there have been several? sinkings caused by those doors scuttling their ship. If this boat could tender a Saxdor 340 plus an Extender, you'd have a no-compromise mini-superyacht (less a mini-submarine and helipad of course :). The helm room needs to be reworked; a half-folding table (that converts to a bed when needed in a pinch) would be better in that space.

Lots of comments concerning bad weather - this is almost surely a boat for the Med. The average number of rain days in the Med during June-September is 4-10 days. That's 1 day per month in most of the Med - not 24 hours of rain, but 1 day where it rains, most likely a light rain for a couple of hours. I'm dubious about the diesel-electric system and noise management but the layout, with all those open spaces, is absolutely fantastic. Also, the concern Jacks mentions about crew quarters tends to be misplaced: they're largely just for sleeping. I like how some Italian builders don't even offer a proper crew mess in yachts this size (Custom Line, for example) - the crew will just use the galley. The crew doesn't actually spend any meaningful time down below.

Well Jack..... This is a yacht that goes beyond expectations..... It is one of the best yachts you have showcased so far - IMHO.... if they would just do this to the Numarine 26XP as well??!! as the 26 would be my choice, as one could manage that without a professional captain.... This is so beautiful, and the Scandinavian interior is very nice, (as a Dane - Scandinavian) I really fancy this interior.... and to answer your question, I would opt for the diesel -electric... it is as if Numarine has gone "Greenline" on this boat... same principle I think.... A part from the latest Hardy you did some time ago, this is such a beautiful boat and such a true Blue-water vessel, that Nordhavn must re-evaluate their interiors to keep up..... Thank you so much!!

I'd like to know more about the various ranges and details of the engine configurations. The diesel/electric seems best for something like a charter use. You noodle around and spend a lot of time on anchor. You could fuel it up in Boston USA (there is a Boston UK, who knew?) in December and noodle your way down to Virgin Islands, hang out then go back to Miami all on one tank of fuel.
@MrArchie800Ай бұрын

That helm design is so bad for a large yacht, it’s like driving inside an armour carrier with limited visibility. And those steps in and around the captain helm chair is disaster waiting to happen in a night watch or rough seas.
@ryanrevis827Ай бұрын
Agree completely. I don’t think you can see the water for 30-40 ft in front of the boat from that chair. Also why huge windows in the master and smaller elsewhere and tiny on the helm? Boat was made for parking not cruising. While it may have a 3k range, I’m not sure if I would trust those windows that far off shore. Plus you now need a whole mother crew member just to keep the glass clean and be able to see through it.

The decor is nice, but the headroom really sucks. Unless you're 7' tall, that is really low ceilings. They seem to have designed the entire yacht around the beach club and the master balcony. I don't like the bridge either. Way too low to see very well. And I think they should have enclosed some of the top deck. It's huge, but completely wasted in poor weather. And why would they put all of the refrigeration away form the cooking area? It seems that they really need a better layout.

Numarine's boats are so innovative and feature packed that I could never understand why their (interior and, especially, exterior) designs were so unfathomably ugly. Now that I've seen the way that the owner of the company has chosen to decorate his own boat, the poor, poor design choices of the range begin to make much more sense... very clever features, just hideous to look at. Also, I understand that it's nice to have the sofas in the main salon facing the large opening doors, but that means that your giant TV is opposite of a bar with no seating. How in the world would anyone watch that in comfort?
@imcurtispennerАй бұрын
Poor captain. That “bridge” is ridiculous in comparison to the size of the boat. Why are car reviews so much more honest than boat reviews. I don’t think I’ve ever heard someone call BS when they see it on a yacht. Watch a car review and you get the good, bad and ugly.

Am also very unclear as to the benefits of diesel-electric on a build like this. Went for a look to see if Numarine has any documentation to explain the decision, only found some articles that called it "eco-friendly", which is pretty hilarious. If you care about CO2, you probably shouldnt get into yachting. Still, I would be interested to know if there is any measurable efficiency gain - theoretically, not having to deal with mechanical transmission should give some benefit. Also it's running pod drives, which are pretty cool. But you're also adding a lot to the cost, I hate to think how much. Diesel electric makes sense on monsters like cruise ships, where they can run diesel turbines, and but on a 100ft boat like this? Eeehhhh.....
