Straight DJ/ tech nostalgia. A Numark Mixtrack was the gear that got me into the game. Now, while having turntables, Z2, and a DDJ-1000, the DDJ-400 is the convenience go-to. Ultimately my next piece must be a standalone/streaming unit. #LoveEvolution

My therapist suggested that I start creating something I had 50 years old I have no artistic ability the only thing I like is music and I'd like to think that I would be good at creating a sounds face that everyone would enjoy. I am about I am ready to buy my first piece of equipment. Which has created much confusion. And the confusion causes me to delay the purchase. Now a year behind. I wanted to thank you for taking the time to do this video I watched it three times I really enjoyed the review I think I'm going to move up to that piece of equipment or the rain one or or that pioneer rev7 I will look at the mall and make a decision. Stop thinking of this as something it wasn't meant to be. I'm seriously considering this one!

For the price this is a bargain. A stand-alone with lighting control with booth speakers XLR outputs, this blows DDJ FLX6 out the water for the same price. The FLX6 doesn’t even have XLR outputs. I’m a pro DJ and I would get this as a back up use for small gatherings or an event like wedding where more than 1 room is used. For $600 standalone a great product in my book. Great job Terry as usual.. 👍🏿
@jayred1393 жыл бұрын
Now way is this controller better than the FLX6. FLX6 is a 4 deck controller compatible with Serato, Rekordbox and Virtual DJ. This thing doesn't hold water to a 4 deck controller you're better off spending the money to get the pioneer xdj if you want a solid stand alone controller.

Haha... "Not off!". I love it =) I'm seriously considering this one. I have been a Traktor fan for years (but used Deckadance for a couple of years) and I love my Traktor controller. What I don't like is that I have software issues now and then. Not on all gigs, but it happens to often to be comfortable. And yes, it would probably be a less issue if I step away from Windows, but that the cost is an issue. This would be a nice alternative being autonomous and don't have to worry about the next software crash. However, I'm not that in to the wifi/online features. I want to use it totally offline with my own song collection. Most venues I'm at are outside reliable internet connection. Most reviews only focus on the streaming part. One feature that would be cool is to have an external (larger) monitor. I'm almost 50 and small screens have become an issue ;)
@justifiedsoul69 Жыл бұрын
I've just bought one and I'm 53... It's better than I expected and I'm extremely pleased with it! I don't currently plan to use any streaming services as it just isn't how I roll, but I have an SD card and two USB drives plugged in and can access my music that way. You can swap out any of them while playing and it accepts HDD's as well as thumb drives so there doesn't seem to be a size limit (the Mixdeck Express will only take 32GB sticks, for example). Some people are panning the onboard speakers, I'm actually really pleased with them. I'm not sure i would try to run a party with them, but for home use and practice they are perfect! What I have done is wire the main output to a basic powered subwoofer and I was blown away at how capable that suddenly sounded for a home system or even a small party! I'm taking it to a friend's with a sub to see how far we can push this idea, and its only a cheap chappy Sony sub! I hooked it up with my Mordant Short sub and it sounded great. I love that I can put this anywhere and play, but not just play, Record also! I understand this won't be for everyone, but I am very satisfied with it and how it works! Now to get me some Philips smart lights...
@matsadona Жыл бұрын
@@justifiedsoul69 Thanks. Since my first comment I actually bought one and I'm very happy with it so far. Only used it "live" once on a music quiz session, but it was working flawlessly. I have tried both running from USB and Dropbox. No issues at all. A key to success is obviously to put some effort into preparing the playlists to get a smooth workflow. Guess there will be some trial and error before it sits perfect. However, I have some doubts about the search functionality - I.e. how to find a specific song in a stressed situation, but it might be just me. Did a first test with my Hue lights, and that was really easy. Now I'm about to jump into the SoundSwitch ocean as well. Although most of my lights are considered retro with manual controllers, I do have some LED DMX equipment also. The ability to have tailormade light shows for specific songs is a nice feature indeed. But a lot of work is needed. By the way, I just noticed that there is a + version just released. Trying to find the details but so far the only change I can find is the support for Amazon music. Anyone else noticed any other upgrades?

@stereotimo2 жыл бұрын
Definitely considering to buy this one. What I really hate about this though is the mic input, same as in the other Numark controllers. A proper mic input would have at least an XLR connector, compressor/limiter and basic EQ controls. The settings have a mic tab, so I expected it would have more controls than just internal speaker throughput on/off. This one really requires a separate mixer. Also, parties like weddings tend to need more than one mic input. Thumbs up for main output XLR's though.
@ClevelandTerry2 жыл бұрын
Agreed.
@dirtychump2 жыл бұрын
That would all be great but its only $700 what do you expect?
@stereotimo2 жыл бұрын
@@dirtychumpThose small additions would have made this product truly complete. Now it's just almost there. Would gladly pay a few dollars more to completely make a separate mixer unnecessary. Replacing a jack with an XLR isn't that expensive and EQ's and compressors are nowadays just a few lines of code if the audio processing is fully digital anyway.

My man Cleveland, killed it with this review,,I’m not the biggest fan of Engine as I was disappointed with it when I picked up the Denon Prime 2, although I’m led to believe that they have since improved it.. One thing that isn’t technically correct regarding it being a complete stand alone,,although yes it is a Stand alone unit, you still need a computer to import and organise Nd analyse your music and then export it to a USB which plugs into the Numark.. At least this was the case with the Prime 2..
@chadnliz2k113 жыл бұрын
Except you forget that "if" you have good internet you can literally stream everything so that's not really accurate. Prepping music at home is a need, but at a event it is in fact completely stand alone. Pioneer requires same effort and the cdj units have always been considered stand alone too.
@dirtychump2 жыл бұрын

I also wasn't sure if I am ready to learn another software system. I didn't get Denon before because of the Engine. Now, they revamped it into Engjine DJ, I have researched and given it a second look. My biggest worry is to convert my Rekordbox library to Engine. Can that be possible? If it is, I will have to see the controller live and test it out.

The mix stream pro can analyze a rekordbox USB on the device itself. You technically don't even need to stop using rekordbox. You can also easily import in your rekordbox library to make Engine mirror your RB library in just a few clicks and a few minutes
