Fantastic example, One of my dream cars to own one day I had 2 of these as my first cars and had some great memories in my 1.4 vivant and 1.8 Meridian, Was a member on the old Pug306net forums Few small OEM+ Mods id do to this: - Git 6 front splitter is missing but is a must on a car of this standard if you can find one, - Phase 2 Dash has a much better Aluminium and black finish and looks much better than the standard silver. - 307 Wiper jets are a direct replacement and provide much better coverage in a fan spread, - Dual rear fog lights - you can just add another bulk to the opposite light for dual fogs in the winter - Fogs with flash - you can add a jumper wire with the Fog and high beam switch so they come on at the same time. Have this in my VW and its very handy - Some old phase 2 models only had a half rear arch liner on one side which meant that the body would rust near the rear seatbelt mount - Spare wheel carrier needs to be regular greased as the drop nut in the boot floor can seize - Boot trim - Should be standard on these but are sometimes missing, Good luck with the Ebay sale - Fantastic car. Wish I could afford it

8:24, spare wheel carrier rotting away nicely, this will leave indentations on the spare tyre sidewall, eventually scrapping the tyre. job for the weekend, wire brush + hammerite. it will either unbolt or unhook off, + it will give you more space to clean the rest up the pulling to one side can also be those worn bottom arm bushes, especially when braking hard keep it up young man

Cool cars. I used to have a 205 1.9 GTi back in the day and much later a brand new 89 Pug 405 GRi 1.9. Even the 405 had great handling for a larger 4 door car. Peugeot were on top of the chassis game back in those days. I also had Saab's and Renault's through that time all with their own character, but the Peugeot's were definitely the most "playful".

I had two 405sri's and a 306 dturbo , they were great all round cars, I then got a Clio Williams and really found 80's, 90's French cars were really amazing cars to own and enjoy!!

I’ve recently had to part with my GTI6 and I miss it. I prefer the more modern stuff for daily driving but the 306 was on another planet for the overall experience. Great sound and a feedback through the controls that beats a lot of modern cars. Ok, it had French car electrics sometimes but you could forgive it anything once you punched it down a few local B-roads. Everything felt like it was in harmony. I’ve owned a few decent cars before but this is the one I’ll miss the most.
@576103 Жыл бұрын
When do we get to see your reflections on the results of all that work? Marginal or tremendous improvement? Worth the investment or could you have left some things alone and been just as happy? I’ve recently embarked upon a course of recreational maintenance on one of my cars and the improvements were notable. When things degrade slowly over time (as with suspension bushings for instance) it’s not easily discerned, but when all is made right again the improvements can be quite pronounced, to the point of being surprising….

As a former owner of two Peugeot 306, after German and English cars (1!!!), I was really impressed by this French cars handling and extreme, fine suspension! I still drive French cars that many years after.

I fondly remember my Pug 306 break, it was fast as hell (~120HP, for a family stationwagon!) and was the same color as yours - fitted the same wheels and a lowering kit. Man that car was a lot of fun, never had much trouble with it except for a broken clutch cable and a flooded/clogged ventilation thing (got wet feet).

Had one of these pretty much same spec 23 years ago, great little car once moving pick up was surprising fast, very economical and as mentioned great handling ran it for three years and put around 75K on it..

I still miss my 306, my favourite Peugeot it just felt so right when I picked it up from the Dealer now nearly 30 years ago, that autumn found myself driving around Wales with a Golf Gti owning friend. He was amazed at how much better the ride and body control compared with his then new Golf, so much so traded it in for a 306 the next summer.

I was loaned a GTI6 by a leasing co i.e nearly new. The clutch was a swine! Driving out of the city centre was a pain (literally) and I have a bad impression of them as a result. It put me off hot hatches for life as a car that you couldn’t relax driving - I like to drive quickly at times but want a car to be able to cruise also.

Recognise a lot of those issues from my old N-reg XSI that I took to 120k miles before swapping it for a Mazda3 Sport. Peugeot around that time had issues with heater matrices - the one on the 306 failed twice, the first time at just over three years, and the one on my previous 205GTI failed too but was lot easier to deal with.
@richfixescars Жыл бұрын
I had a 306 1.8 Meridian in that blue in 2003. It did handle and ride well, but also had a stiff clutch. A new cable helped for a bit, then it was stiff again, so must have been the clutch I guess. One of the only breakdowns I've had, the coil pack connector fell off and it cut out.
@andrewdawson5281 Жыл бұрын
From your early comment about how it drives and steers, you imply it is better than Pepe. That is some compliment. It doesn't look as pretty as the 205. If anything; it looks a bit... staid. So its looks deceive. My 205 gti was a revelation back in the 80's and that from someone who moved to it from an Alfasud. If the 306 is better I'd be very tempted but I've got my heart set on a Caterham.

I had a few renault 19 16v's and the s16 thing happened there?. I do love a rear torsion bar bit of lift off oversteer though. The gti-6 is probably the last bit of that type of getting around a bend and tbh I think the old French stuff was so good on a uk road. 205 gti, renault 5 turbo, clio 16v, renault 19 16v. All similar underneath with parts used. But I will say this I had an e30 325i at the same time as my brother had a 306gti-6 and it was close. I love the frenchies from this era 😍
