How to build a simple 4 'x 8' storage shed under $380 dollars

DIY affordable storage shed, build your shed under $380 dollars, this storage shed was built with minimum wood and materials, it is a strong solid shed that will last for many years. It is recommended to raise the subfloor framing so that it does not touch the ground, I didn't want to obstruct my window, that is why I had to dig a little bit to build the subfloor below ground level, pressure treated wood will last many years, however, you should raise the structure above ground level using your concrete step stones. The total cost of this project was $374.29 before taxes.

Well I have 2 complaints, the first is that you dug it below grade, making for a place for water to gather and rot your floor. Second the pitch of the roof is very slight and in a heavy rain storm water will back fill and hit that window and back wall and run between the house and shed rotting that back wall. Otherwise I like the build, it is simple and easy to do, makes for a great storage place for gardening tools and stuff you need to store away for winter. I hope you take my complaints as constructive criticism, in hope to do it better in the future. I like that you added vents with a smaller mesh screen to keep bugs out and let hot air out of the shed. I also like how you did the roof, over all its a great build and design. So good job.
@NumberDZ
@NumberDZ Жыл бұрын
The base framing is below grade, however, there's good slope around it, the water does not pool in that area, it flows away from it. The roof pitch may not be visible in the video, however, in person you can clearly see that the front section is lower compared to the back, the rain water drains perfectly fine towards the front, we have had heavy rain and no water goes towards the back wall. Thanks for your feedback 👍 don't forget to subscribe.

You must live in a dryer warmer area. This would not work where I live. First, needs more drainage under the shed. Secondly, not nearly enough pitch to the roof. Lastly, the fiberglass roof is not sufficient for snow loads. Otherwise it's fine considering the price and care to detail used in building your lean to shed.

Looks good but how is it holding up with all the rain recently. Kinda worried your shed is getting flooded since it wasn’t raised much and was any Tsing going thru your window or shed since their was no pitch to the roof

No problems so far, everything looks good. The floor is about 6 inches above the ground level so no flooding problems. The roof has a good pitch the water drains towards the front, you can’t really see the pitch in the video but you see it right away in person.

Wow, looks so nice for less than $400 shed. What kind of material for the roof, metal?

How many degrees the roof?

You know you could've doubled the width and it only would've taken 3 more OSB sheets. Also it would've been nice to paint marine grade paint on the OSB to prevent rotting longer. But as long as you keep painting sealing it every 2 years with water sealant you should be fine.

I know but the space wouldn't allow me to make it bigger.

Can you explain that to me? I'm a total newbie and would like something a little bit bigger and if it only adds three more sheets of plywood to it that would be awesome but wouldn't you still need more 2 * 4 for the framing?

@truthknowledge7915 16 күн бұрын
@@MyCabinLife yes you would need some additional 2x4's for framing but that would equal about 8-10 more. If you added on 4 ft to both front and back end, that would make the building 4 ft wider. You osb sheets are 4x8 ft so a sheet at both ends cover the frame on the sides. Your roof area only extends 4ft so a whole 3rd sheet on the extended part should cover that as long as you building is only 8ft long
