The guy said if “this bacon was on the loyalists burger” But the bacon is not on the loyalist. It’s part of the Au Cheval burger. It’s an amazing burger I’ve had the takeout and it’s not the same as dinning there or outside. 4 out of 5 Of my friends I asked around, agreed Au Cheval still wins it. The loyalist patty is great!! But Au Chevals is as well plus the bacon, plus better fries and Garlic Mayo sauce and the buttery bun. Don’t be scared off of Au Cheval comment section, felt the guy in red was already biased that this burger was number 1 for so long and not The Loyalist. Au Cheval is great and still if not the but on of the greatest burgers in Chicago. #1 in my book as well as many. -my opinion I stand by it.

Raised by thrifty foodies...I love local dives with great food. Somehow, no matter where we moved, my parents found great fairly inexpensive restaurants. When my well off aunt & uncle visited we hit up the fancy places. I still remember being 9-told to order what I want & ordering an adult entee with a starter salad with blue cheese dressing & my mom pinching my leg hard under the table. 😄 Great episode gentlemen!

Au cheval is really expensive here in NY. $22 without bacon and egg (+10 if you want that). Another $12 for fries and you're looking at $44 without tax and tip (almost 9% tax) and it's $55 for a burger and fries.

Have either of you gone to Smoque BBQ yet? I liked Small Cheval, but it was the fries there that surprised me. The burger was good. Did I pay too much? I usually am if I am in Chicago. I get better burgers if I go to this meat market in Creston Illinois. I buy one of their various monster burgers, cook that baby up, add some Merkts cheddar, caramelized onions, a potato roll, and I have anything better than I'd buy in the city. If I had to think of a burger that I got a great value, Paradise Pup, all day, every day. If I lived closer I'd be going there 2-3 times a month and buy them Christmas gifts. It is clear the value of Au Cheval is in THE hype. That stretch of 4-6 blocks is pricey for everything, but if you know that going in, there's nothing to complain about. It is what it is.

@@CoreyWagnerChicago If you do go, the St. Louis ribs and brisket are my favorites. The baked beans and cole slaw are their best sides. I love their barbecue sauce. They usually have a line that moves fast, a testament to their food and their streamlined operation. Barbecue can be pricey, so steal some money from Sean. If you know of better barbecue joint than Smoque, do let me know. Have a good one gents.

$20 for a burger? I’m always divided on expensive burgers. On one hand I love it because you get what you pay for and you can taste the quality of the ingredients. On the other hand great burgers are hard not to think about and my wallet doesn’t like shelling out that money 😂

I took my son out to lunch at Mariscos El Puerto here in Las Vegas the other day. We both had the fish filet. I went grilled and he had his breaded. I also had three 12 oz. cans of Modelo. The meals were huge and excellent quality as well. In the end I dropped a little over $45 for lunch. This was a bit much for my wallet but I had a great time with my son. I really think that a meal out can be about the experience guys. That said that fucking burger is overpriced. Cheers!
