Numeric short shifter first drive, 2009 Porsche 911 Carrera S, 997.2

Nice vid. I installed the shifter and cables too. Transmission really needs to get up to temp before thrashing. I love the mod. Do you find yourself slow shifting into second?

I haven’t been able to drive the car much since installing the short shifter, so can’t say that I do. You slow shift into 2nd because of a particular reason? I find that I sometimes don’t think I’m fully into 1st, like it should go deeper, i.e., further away from me. I want to say it’s shorter or closer than where 3rd sits. Anyways, I’m thinking of changing the transmission fluid and calling it done, as in, that’s as good as I can get it to feel, which is pretty good in my humble opinion.

@@OCDHAUS From what I’ve read and experienced, these transmissions are clunky when cold. I have to wait a second or two before engaging second gear until it’s thoroughly warmed up. I installed the Numeric shifter and cables soon after I bought the car so my memory pre numeric is vague. I also changed the gear oil to PTX. It seemed smooth overall operation a bit. I am very satisfied with the setup. I thought the cables were a bit longer than necessary as well. Fun dealing with firewall grommet, right?

Yeah, removing those cables were a bit of a pain. BTW, why did you go with PTX verses OEM or Porsche brand? This video concerns me about going with something different than what Porsche recommends, kzbin.info/www/bejne/i5akgYOooMRrqa8si=I2g4d-itR7K5H5my

Just around 21 K. Not sure what I'll use now, I'll have to look into it more. Not even sure if I need to change it, but figured why not start fresh.
