On the 8th questions v + u = 100cm == in the question given v is 3 times the u then when we solve equation we got v=3u put it on equation v+u = 100 so we got 3u+u = 100 easily we got the value of objects distance that is 25cm and v = 75cm just by substitution method

Homework Answer:- Yes. when a convex lens of focal length 10 cm is covered one half with a black paper, it can produce an image of the complete object between F2 and 2F2. focal length (l) = +20cm(since it is a convex lens) object distance (u) = -15cm (since it is a convex lens) Therefore, by lens formula, 1/f = 1/v - 1/u =>1/20 = 1/v - (-1/15) => 1/20 = 1/v + 1/15 => 1/20 - 1/15 = 1/v => 1/v = 3-4/60 (taking LCM) => 1/v = -1/60 => v = -60 cm (since the image is formed on the side of object and opposite to the direction of incident ray) Therefore image distance is 60 cm object height (O) = +4 cm We know, magnification (m) = I/0 = v/u => m = -60/-20 = v/4 => m = 4 = v/4 => m = v = 16 cm Therefore size of image is four times the size of object, i.e., 16 cm. Thus, Since the object was between the optical center and focus so the image is formed on the same side as the object, enlarged, virtual and erect. Amazing session sir

Sir Question no.8 me u negative lena tha, Given, -u + v = 100 ......eq (1) Magnification = v /u = -3 (real and inverted image) v = -3u ........eq (2) Focal length 1/f = 1/v - 1/u ......eq (3) Substitute eq (2) in eq (1), we get u = -25 cm eq (2) v = -3 u = - 3 *- 25 = 75 cm Substitute eq (2) in eq (3), we get f = - 3 u/4 = -3 * -25/4 = 18.75 cm.
