According to the story, I was ever read Selim II was short, ugly and fat, although I have never found the source of that "traditional" description. But the one in the drama is really hot, I think he's the hottest guy in the show. And equally this Nurbanu for me is the most beautiful Sultana in the show.

I like Selim. His hair is blonde or almost red. He is handsome and I like the hair on his chest as well😁, his beard and mustache.. the most beautiful for me is Hurrem. No one can defeat those big, blue eyes and her lips are perfect. Her nose too... Very beautiful.

Not russian. Ruthenian. Didn't you remember when he sent those "russian" girls away? Plus, that's a series mistake. There were no Russian Empire those times, only Moskowia, and western ruthenian lands were under Polish kingdom. And this part where Hurrem is from for real now belongs to modern Ukraine (Rohatyn, Ivano-Frankivska region). They did as Hurrem was from Crimea, but this part is historically innacurate too. The truth is that she was brought there because thats where a biggest slave market was those times. Captured slaves from different countries could be bought in Crimea. The reason why they speak russian is unknown to me. Maybe because it was easier for some Turkish actors? But the songs Hurrem sings for her children are Ukrainian famous lullabies. I know because I'm from there and I recognized those songs

I think the seduction-scene was way too modern, considering the era. But then, there could've been more than this because no one really witnessed such intimate activities. So, all we can do is imagine and come up with one like this.🤣 It was perfectly executed, but as far as their [Selim- Nur] chemistry is seen,it can't be compared with that of Suleiman-Hurrem. But the greatest chemistry was that between Kosem and Kemankes in the entire Magnificent Century series. 🙃
@erism.27902 жыл бұрын
I think it's a deliberate thing, to clearly differentiate Nurbanu from the other concubines and explain why Selim fell in love with her out of all of them. As Suleyman loved Hurrem for his cheerfulness and spontaneity, Selim is drawn to Nurbanu's resourcefulness and brazenness, his lack of reverence. Otherwise it would be just any one. I think it also serves to give a minimum of individualization to the sultans and the sehzades. Then, as you said, let's talk about a private business. We cannot know what they really did, neither in general nor a specific couple. I imagine the sultans had their preferences and the concubines had a minimum of personality beyond the protocol.
@oxanatarashchuk45984 ай бұрын
Well, no wonder she was chosen by Hurrem. She's not only beautiful and smart, she is special. And, I just remembered Hurrem's seducing technics (at the very beginning). It’s to imply that she’s a bad influence on Selim. She’s the girl in bed with him when Mihrimah wakes him up and he’s still drunk, and she’s his primary concubine in his sanjak - where he’s gotten a reputation for being a drunk and a lech. Having Dilšah Hardin drink in her scenes contrasts her to Nurbanu, who’s taken it upon herself to keep Selim sober long enough to claim the throne
@cloverazar53152 жыл бұрын
Reply to add: also: Dilšah Hatun was abducted from her home and family, sold as a $ex slave to strangers, and knows that her only chance of survival is to seduce and please this random dude she didn’t choose in the hopes of having a son (that most likely will be executed). I don’t like her character, but girl, think about it: if that was what I woke up to every day, I’d be drinking too.

@@cloverazar5315 for sure it’s sad, and for sure there were slaves that are not happy living in the palace, but girls in the palace did not kidnapped or enslaved specifically for the palace, they were kidnapped by pirates, or their village burnt down by bandits and they got enslaved. Harem officers were saving them from the slave markets ( at least most of them ended up in harem like that) Being taken by palace was the best thing that can happen to them at that moment since they can live with other girls together, they can eat and drink whatever they want, they were getting educated, they learn how to play instruments and dance, they were getting paid as well, they were treated when they get sick. Also, living in medieval times were pretty rough. Not a lot of people were living in good conditions. They used to do a lot of physical work daily under both very hot and cold temperature. And after a certain time, they had rights to choose if they want to leave the palace or getting married with a government officer or stay in the palace. Nilufer (Holofira), Nurbanu (Cecilia), Safiye (Sophia) and more sultans were noble women in Europe and they had a rich life even before harem, but they chose to stay instead of going back to their family. So it shouldn’t be that bad I guess.
