Thank you for explaining their differences and how they are used! The Morgan Hoop almost looked wooden to me ha! Good to know that they are sturdy yet lightweight.

I’ve never used a Nurge, but have several Morgans. I love them!!!

I use several different frames based on what I am stitching: scroll rods in large sizes, Hardwick and Morgan hoops for smaller projects. I like that my Lowery work stand can hold all of them because I’m a two-handed stitcher. I also have the Morgan 14/12 lap stand to handle small quilting I use in some of my embroidery pieces.

Thank you. I'm just now starting to use the Nurge hoop. I like the fact that it is rectangular rather than round. Diane

Yes, I think I prefer the square or rectangle shape as well!

I prefer Morgan hoops over the Nurges, personally. The Morgan hoops, last I checked, are also Made in the USA if that is important to anyone.

For either hoop. I USUALLY place the hoop with the screw gets put under the fabric, then the inner hoop is placed on top of the fabric. My reason for placing the fabric on the hoop is to keep the screw area away from the floss! With my XL tummy, I found the Nurge hoop is much easier to use or, just using either Morgan Hoop alone.

I love these reviews. I don't have experience with the Morgan hoop but recently started using the plastic Nurge after the last review you did. It worked great in my Lowrey stand too. thanks, keep reviews coming!

I use the Morgan lap stand hoops for goldwork and two-handed stitching.

I haven’t tried the Morgan, but I will now! I like the Nurge, but my favorite is the wooden ones. The thicker ones are the best. Only thing is, you need to tighten them with a flat head screwdriver. But worth it. Thanks for the comparison.

I purchased the Morgan stand hoop long ago for punch needle…I wasn’t too good at it. And haven’t tried it for cross stitch. I attempted stitching in hand when I returned to CX after 40+years away…. I was a failure…started trying hoops, and found the Nurge. I love the shape of Nurge for stitching, and generally prefer a size 2. I admit I had forgotten about my Morgan, and may give it a try. I always remove whatever hoop I’m using when I stop stitching for the day. 😊. I enjoy your videos. Thanks.

One feature of the Nurge that I discovered are the arrows at the 4 sides help me easily find the middle of my fabric. Of course this only works if your fabric is centered in the hoop. Does anyone else know any more tricks or tips for Nurge hoops?
