Muhammad (Elijah's Son) took over after his father's death and changed the name from the Nation Of Islam to the American Society of Muslims and all the members converted to orthodox Islam then about a year and a half later Farrakhan went and reestablished the Nation Of Islam making himself the leader and introducing his own rules. Elijah Muhammad even stopped giving certain teachings before his death because of the racist image it gave them but Farrakhan brought back those teachings. The NOI doctrine under Fard Muhammad's leadership was slightly different than the doctrine under Elijah Muhammad's leadership, and under Farrakhan's leadership its different from Elijah's and Fard's. Fard had to step down and let Elijah run things because the Detroit police made him leave after the human sacrifice the NOI did according to their doctrine under Fard.
