Nurse showing his skill set again. Anyways, when you have a former goon in charge of the DPS, this is the quality of refereeing you can expect.

They never called that before ... not going to call that in the playoffs. Remind ya of Van/Bos 2011? Sedin gets multiple punches right in front of the ref and no call. I think that crosscheck was more of a dive than the one called in NYR/CAR a few games ago. And it was a weak crosscheck, even weaker than the crosscheck that wasn't called in the Bos/Fla game that resulted in a goal, that should have been waived for goalie interference. but they called this? and not the one in Boston??? Never any consistency. That's why I get frustrated. Just no consistency, and diving like that should be suspendable.

There is no consistency at any corporation either, no worker or manager is going to have the same beliefs and ideals, what makes you think the NHL and their refs are any different?

The refs feel they get to substitute their judgment for the rule book.

I don’t think the refs want to double up calls on a play. They’ve either decided or been told not to. I’d like them to call it, but they won’t.
@rforbes-16 күн бұрын
Not even in the reg season would they call that. Plus it was a soft cross check compared to everything else. If he was against the boards and didn't fall - no call I'd like them to as well and I'm an oiler fan. We eat enough random punches.
@Xanlet16 күн бұрын
So players who have a penalty called against them should find the nearest opponent and punch him in the face since the refs won't double up? See how ridiculous that sounds? A penalty should be a penalty, this whole business of guessing whether a clear-as-day infraction will be called is why the NHL has an integrity problem. The league is basically irrelevant in the sporting world and growing slower than other sports leagues. Nobody takes the NHL seriously and this is an example of why.

Joshua gives as much as he takes, it's called playoff hockey. Extra face washs and extra shots happen all the time.
@ToughCall16 күн бұрын
I know they happen all the time. But they shouldn’t. Especially not pinches like this where the two players aren’t even engaged. He’s just trying to bait Joshua into retaliating. Joshua should’ve been rewarded for not biting.

It's a tough game. Intimidation and standing up for yourself is huge in hockey. I hear what you are saying respectfully but this is tame to how playoffs used to be. Anyone old enough to remember the Flyers goon squad winning 2 cups or the Edmonton Calgary series. Brutal. Playoffs of today are tame compared to those days but l will say this.....the officiating has been poor . Call what should be called but don,t take the flow away from the game and let the players decide the outcome.

All of this doesn't matter. It's going to be two American teams in the finals. Again.

I think the key word you said is common, I cant get a call when that happens in beer league... Ill be damned if the NHL starts. I get it, its a roughing, but Hockey is no fun if yeah can't give a shot to guy and then take a beer to him after the game.

Sadly, no. I’m not new to hockey. We’ve all gotten too used to these tactics.

All of a sudden on the NHL you want to play by the rules? The penalty boxes aren't big enough and the game already is too long with too many interruptions.
@ToughCall16 күн бұрын
Not all of a sudden. It’s what I’ve always wanted. The penalty boxes wouldn’t be any more full than they are now because players would adjust. And I genuinely believe they’d be less full.

We need to just accept that the refs have a script, especially when Van plays. Nucks just need to mind their P's and Q's and not give the refs OR the league excuses to shit on them cause thats exactly what they will do any chance they get. Im surprised they even called anything on this. If a blue and green jersey did that probaby would have been 5 and a game and the league would have suspended him for the rest of the series 🎉

It's apparent the refs have been told to take it easy on the Oilers. Way to many missed calls and an imbalance of Oiler PPs being called.
