I am a retired nurse. However, if I was a unattached young person, I would do the same. As a traveler, you make the most and can bank on the majority of your pay by living as cheaply as possible. Eventually, you can retire early. It makes a huge difference when you work because you want to, rather than because you have to. I am always astounded at the young nurses who blow their paychecks on fancy vacations, expensive cars, restaurants or clothing having run across many older nurses who don’t want to work but have to due to their earlier lifestyle. I just hope you have a way to shelter as much money as possible so that you don’t pay more than your fair share of taxes.

Looks great. One note to improve the efficiency of your cooler, and this works on any cooler, powered or not. Air is a horrible medium of holding temperature, so you want to remove excess air in the cold compartment, but still allow for air flow to move cold around. Water is much better than air at holding temp, not the best thing ever, but cheap and easy to access to do what we need to do. So, to improve cooler efficiency, you can try to fill 80% of the air space with water bottles, even if you never drink the water contained inside them. It takes energy to cool them at first if not already cold, but once cold it is more efficient to keep cold than the air is and the compartment suffers less of a total heat exchange each time you open the cooler.

Regarding stray EMF. You might want to wrap your electrical wooden box with EMF shielding cloth(cheaper option is painted thick gauge aluminum foil). Also, avoid running wires(esp, involving AC from inverter), in a loop to prevent emf leakage. Also could sleep in a conductive fabric rf blanket. Also be wary of running that rgb led string at night(could be putting out a lot of high frequency out). You could also run a loop of copper wire energized by a Schuman generator, to counter local emf smog. Just some 💭
@solarcampercar Жыл бұрын
This is what I was missing... Thank you for typing that! I will probably get the shielding cloth since installation is easy I imagine. I need to tidy up the wire mess
@aware2action Жыл бұрын
@@solarcampercar You are welcome. Also, do not let your phone get covered by the rf/emf shielding cloth, it will go incognito! and you will have a difficult time locating it, or receiving calls!. You can also make a pouch next to you, to store your phone, when you sleep(phones can emit insanely high power rf bursts, well above your wifi levels, to create sleep issues in close proximity) and don't have time to turn off, or put in airplane mode. Also, I strongly suggest you, to use blue light blocking eye glasses, few hours before your sleep time, to get consistent restful sleep. On a different note, keep track of airtags around you(using free apps), as a safety precaution during your cross country trip. You can even use,a rectangular piece of shielding cloth to locate one, if hidden. Travel safe, keep us posted👍.

When I saw he sleeps on top of the electrical my first thought wasn’t EMF it was the fact that if a fire starts he’s literally on top of it. Also the area looked somewhat sealed with no small fans exhausting or pulling air in which I would definitely recommend especially across the inverter and charge controller.
@aware2action Жыл бұрын
@@jtully87 Never thought of that possibility, but definitely a probability, which makes me think, a WhamBam fire extinguiser thingie(used for automatically extinguising fires from unattended 3d printer operation) could be glued with epoxy to the underside of the box. It is good to wakeup with a loud noise in this hypothetical situation. Just some 💭

it's no big mistake. everything has its pros and cons. you do whatever works best for you. suvs aren't built for off-road but you can turn it into something offroad. not all sprinters are built for off-road either. it's really up to your idea of whats best. the suv is great because it's 100x more stealthier than a sprinter van. sprinters have more space though. as a small framed guy that's 6 foot tall at around 180lbs both can work for me although the sprinter would be more comfortable with more head room. i just love the layout of the suv though that you have with the bed on side and counter on other side. that and when you see an suv you don't have that thought in the back of your head like "someone is probably living in there" that and the suv would be easier to drive in a city in my opinion. the SUV just seems more versatile than a sprinter.

Good video bro, I love this setup for sure. Great idea and use of space with your long cabinet/counter top. Not much to improve on, but small suggestions would be get some velcro straps and tidy up the wiring under your bed area, to make your fire extinguisher more accessible possibly mounted on the inside of your cabinet door near the campstove and you could do small wire shelves (on the inner part of the door) for spices and whatnot to optimize space and maybe fit your gym bag in there too. Adventure on my friend.

Some more input, after re-watching the video: The fire extinguisher seems, not rated for electric fires, might get a smaller one rated for electric fires, place it in a different area(where high power appliances are in use). Add a fuse panel, if not done already. Unsure, if your LiFePo4 batteries have built-in battery heaters. In extreme cold weather, attempting to charge it at high currents will permanently ruin the battery. Add a temp. cutoff breaker to charge inputs at the minimum. You might like to have a weateher blanket made of 3M thinsulate, or even integrate some 12v silicone heaters(used in 3d printers). Ensure, you are not overloading your vehicles 12v accessory port rated amps. You can also buy a couple of PTC heaters to thaw the battery before charging(could come in handy for de-icing in extreme cold weather-which you should be already familiar with).

A mechanic quoted my $5k to fix an engine code that caused turbo issues on my old high roof dodge sprinter (rebranded Mercedes engine) van. I lost all hope for that Mercedes engine and sold it at a loss. I will stick to American cars since parts are domestic as well

This has to be the best SUV conversion I have ever seen. I was thinking about getting a van but I think I will use my current SUV. Great ideas for me to use. Thank you!

Up until you comment about parking garages I would lean towards a high top van. More room still city friendly but to tall for garages sadly.

You need to put your fire extinguisher on your counter or velcro it to the back of your driver seat headrest even. Fires are fast sometimes and you need quick access
@marywinslow5808 Жыл бұрын
You need two more extinguisher just so you have enough. Remember to turn them upside down and back once a week 😊

Fascinating videos! Ingenious lifestyle. I've lived in a camper years ago when I was younger. 70 now so can no longer do it. Just a Gypsy dragging my house behind me while touring the US. I've visited and worked in nearly every state!

@8:27 you mention you put up a wall partition for storage behind it, which is awesome! How did you secure or attach the plywood to the car so the stuff behind it won’t push it forward and stay sturdy? Awesome build man, my favorite thus far! Smart and resourceful you are! Thanks for sharing this with us!

I used 90 angle brackets and self tapping screws to secure that! there's small gaps on the front and back but the bags are larger than them. thanks for being here ❤️

bought the car for $9k, conversion parts is about $6k (mostly electrical was the expensive part), labor is approximately $10-15k but I did it myself. so total is like $15k

Engineer here: EMF is not a problem. But you should neaten up your wiring. When a car vibrates, cables rub the way you have them and over time could rub through and cause a shirt. And neater wires frees up space. Great videos!

Maybe he can bundle them with cable ties but there's going to be so many bundles wouldn't it still rub .. because how much wiring is needed

I totally understand relate to your reasons and method(s) to meet your goals. You can travel anywhere and gain many experiences in your field and just be in different environments and cultures: while brilliantly managing your income streams. Now that is genius, and I'm inspired to get started on my build. You're super cool - Congratulations on becoming an RN!!
