Fun bit of trivia! In all my CaW: Code Black review videos where I wear kimono, I’ve chosen my outfits very carefully based on the episode. See if you can guess the themes/symbolism! Answers below: . . . . Episode 2: The Liver, Alcohol, and Pride - I wore a red iromuji (solid colour) kimono, representing our hard-working red blood cells. Although hard to see, I also wore a black-base obi to represent the “black” environment they work in. Episode 3: Excitement, Swelling, and Emptiness - I again chose to wear a red and black-themed outfit, as this episode once again focuses on the hard work of our red blood cell heroes. The komon kimono I wore features a diamond - or harlequin - pattern. Harlequins are comic servant characters and known as romantic heroes, always chasing a lady. Episode 4: Front Lines, Gonorrhea, and Conflict - I chose to wear an off-white houmongi to represent the struggles of our white blood cell heroes this episode. Episode 6: The Kidneys, Kidney Stones, and Tears - I went more for the colour scheme than anything here, as I chose my pink komon kimono to match the pink kimono worn by the glomeruli ladies this episode. It also matched the season! I recorded this video in late winter, when it is appropriate to wear camellia flowers (the main flower on this kimono). Episode 7: Caffeine, Temptation, and Jealousy - I chose to wear my brown komon kimono because it matches the colour of coffee, my favourite caffeinated beverage! Episode 8: The Calf, Pulmonary Embolism, and Quick Thinking: I mentioned it in this episode but I chose to wear my blue Taisho striped kimono to represent cyanosis, the condition where one becomes blue-tinged due to a lack of oxygen (which can definitely be caused by a pulmonary embolism!). Episode 9: Calamity, Athlete’s Foot, and the Meaning of Work - This episode, we looked at athlete’s foot, which often manifests as a scaly white ring on the feet. Here, I chose to wear my black and white Modern Antenna kimono featuring a pattern called “uroko” or “scales” (as in, the scales of a fish). Kind of a pun on words :P Episode 10: Stomach Ulcer, Friendship, and Loss - I wore my Edo komon kimono in a maroon (called “azuki”, as a reference to the sweet red bean, in Japan) colour to represent melena stool, which is maroon, almost wine-colour-tinged stool due to the presence of partially digested/coagulated blood from an upper gastrointestinal bleed. Episode 11: Desperation, Gout, and Rebellion - I chose to wear another off-white kimono to represent the activation of the white blood cells in gout, provoking an inflammatory response. I paired it with a dark blue han’eri (collar) featuring gold stars and an asanoha (hemp leaf) pattern, which reminded me of the gout crystals we saw this episode. Episode 13: Cardiac Arrest, Revival, and Change - I chose to wear a yukata this time because of the warmer temperatures in my apartment, so it limited my choice (I own only a few yukata). However, I went with a white-based yukata featuring either temari balls or water balloons - if we go with the latter interpretation, it reminded of the balloon used in the angioplasty to open up the blocked coronary artery.

Also idk if a bit unintentional but the colors on your yukata for this episode were red and blue, colors associated with veins and circulation

Pretty sure we'll get a second season eventually. The manga still continues on for much longer after this point. And yes, that host body is much worse than even the previous one.. Poor cells. Also the mangaka admitted that the original guy, wouldn't have been allowed to donate blood so soon after a heart attack, because of all the meds the body is on, but he wanted to tell more stories in this universe.
@murrr1808
@murrr1808 3 жыл бұрын
To be fair, it looks like there was some time between having the heart attack and the epilogue scene - everything looks like it's in much better shape than before! That sort of damage done to the body doesn't disappear in a few days. So I just assumed there was a timeskip of some sort (although, as I've said before, RBCs don't have a long lifespan, so if there was a significant timeskip, our main RBC probably would have been dead already xD)

@@murrr1808 Sure, but if we go by that logic the neutrophils would be dead 20 times over already. xD

True. So probably less then 120 days. (Or less then 2 months.) Cause in the Original Cells at work, we can say that there’s a few time skips. The pine pollen could mean winter time in the allergy episode (or if in the south, summer) And the heat stroke could mean it was summer time in that episode (or in the south it would be winter). So it means that some the red blood cells could’ve been dead at that point. But then again both are animes so irl logic may not apply to the main characters.

This Episode, In my opinion from watching it myself, is a really good pick-me-up. Its not entirely feelgood, But It's something I think really gets you feeling hopeful. And It goes to show you: Even to this ravaged, unlucky body, there would always be people who would be there to help them. *No body is an Island.* Edit: funny story - a couple of years ago, I used to go down a road where there was a Funeral directory (Or whatever its called in the UK) with a AED on its outside wall, and in the place where I'm from, Funeral Services actually supported the installation of AED's in public places. Seems a bit ironic, but oh well.

Agreed! I did record a part where I went over how, sometimes, an acute health event...or, you know, dying, in this case...is sometimes enough for people to start making changes in their lives. It's always great seeing success stories of people turning their lives around for the better! And yes, us health care workers will always be there for you when you get hurt or sick xD We call them funeral homes here in Canada :) I can see why they would put an AED in a funeral home - emotions running high, lots of stress, etc. There is actually a condition called "Broken Heart Syndrome" (more formally, Takotsubo cardiomyopathy), caused by a significant amount of stress (such as the death of a loved one, hence the name).

@murrr1808
@murrr1808 3 жыл бұрын
I'll admit, Broken Heart Syndrome is rarely fatal. At least, I've never seen it be fatal, even if it's scary for the person suffering from it! It usually presents similarly as a myocardial infarction but when an angiogram is done, the coronary arteries are clear of any blockages. I did a bit of research and it turns out there is a very, very, very small risk of having a cardiac arrest from it (I think in the realm of 1%).

Hey, I had talked to my Mom (who was a nurse) about the post-credit ending for the "Code Black" series. She said it is not likely that someone who had recovered from a heart attack who have had a blood transfusion, or donate or whatever. I have just thought that "needle" would be a mosquito! Oh darn! They would have heard it; my bad. By the way, I'm a Canadian too from British Columbia, and a otaku too!

I did some research, and Stayin' Alive might not actually be the best song to use, since it actually only has 108 beats per minute, according to Tunebat, a music analysis site. I'd instead suggest Ob-la-di, Obl-la-da by The Beatles, which is 113 beats per minute, and you want something that's within the 110-120 bpm range. And yes, Another One Bites the Dust also works, but so does the Deadpool Rap from the first Deadpool movie!
@murrr1808
@murrr1808 2 жыл бұрын
There's apparently a whole playlist out there that has the songs you can do chest compressions to, hahaha! I was taught that chest compressions can be done in the range of 100-120 bpm, so Stayin' Alive still works. If anything, I prefer something slightly on the slower side of that range because I don't tire out as quickly. I've done 120 bpm chest compressions and I tire out before the full 2 minute cycle has been done.

Judging from the episode ending off, season 2 confirmed? Hopefully we will know what the red bacteria is. I don't think it's Lukinia, cause that's a blood cancer. So it has to be a germ. *thinking AC sound*

@MinerGameroneinonly

Cause if it’s Lukinia, then it should be a mutated red blood cell in a clot. And the villain at the end doesn’t look anything like a cell or mutated. So that’s out of the theory box. Maybe a tick infection or something like that. Idk yet.
@MinerGameroneinonly
@MinerGameroneinonly 3 жыл бұрын
Plus for some survivors of Lukinia, they get a bone marrow transplant to stop it. So that’s the other reason the red bacteria isn’t Lukinia. If it was, then a bunch of t-cells would be in the end and there would be a fallout-like city in the episode (basically, the city (bone marrow) would look bad due to it being removed and replaced. Plus it may look like a war zone cause of many cells, including red blood cells being infected and/or dead. But it doesn’t look like the cells were removed and transferred from a bone marrow. It’s a vain)

@@murrr1808 Could you imagine how bad it would be if she wasn't sucked out too, and to go back into hell like that knowing you would never see your loved one again? It would be a good touch if the new body's WBCs look at our RBC a little suspiciously. In the original series they made a point of the transfused RBCs looking different (hats were a bit different, etc).
