We need to begin an adoption program for seniors just like we do with children. No one wants a future where seniors are housed in warehouses like unwanted cattle.

Nick Keith I agree and would quickly get on a list to adopt a few. My children have no grandparents on either side of the family and never did, very sad how much people discard such a precious gift

The VA does this now they are called medical foster homes for old folks. I just went through the same thing I’m a 36 yo disabled veteran in San Diego I started at the VA in La Jolla was sent to UCSD had my leg amputated and was sent to a va contracted skilled nursing facility and promptly dumped to an independent living facility. It’s dirty there is drug use everywhere I can’t even begin to explain it. I have no family or anywhere to go. I can’t even begin to say how bad these places are. If I wasn’t on crutches with one leg I could live on my own. But I am stuck. Trying to find somewhere else to go right now.

michael graham how about a group home. A house that multiple disabled people live with some assistance that is there if needed. If you can get a social worker either thru the VA or an independent one that you hire they have many resources to get you somewhere you love. Rehab should have you fitted with your prosthetic by now and teaching you how to ambulate on your prosthetic limb and help you learn how to go about your daily ADL’s ( activities of daily living)

Dump and run of an elderly person is mostly done during the holidays, unfortunately. Families don’t want to care of them during a busy time of year

Why do people think nursing homes are responsible for every single undesirable reject? Unbelievable. Where’s the families accountability in taking in a difficult family member? Nursing homes constantly get a bad wrap

You don't know every person's history with their family. My mom was a crackhead, and I was raised most my childhood by my grandparents. Now I'm expected to care for my mother? No. I've undeservingly taken her in for over 2 years, and by the end of the year she is out of my home one way or another, and I refuse to support her any longer.
@Occams_Razor4892 жыл бұрын
@@lawv804 I agree you shouldn’t have to take on that burden. With that said she will still have a burnt out crackhead manipulative personality so be grateful there is a nursing home willing to take care of her and don’t be that “Karen” family that bitches about everything that doesn’t go your mothers way

So, what are the communities doing to help them? At one time, communities helped each other, but sadly, today the rat race has trapped everyone and the weak and vulnerable get pushed aside because they are an eyesore, unwanted and an embarrassment! 'In the last days people will be lovers of self, haters of good...etc etc'...we are seeing this firsthand.

When I was in North suburban, when I lived in Colorado, I was transferred from the ICU after five days to a private room. The man in the room next to me had been abandoned by his family after a traumatic brain injury, had been on Medicaid, and lived in that room for a year. The nurses told me only because he kept trying to get in my room. I have no idea where he is today.

This happens in Canada. Family members who no longer want to care for their senior/disabled family members just leave them at the hospital. They'll literally, callously, say "I don't want this person". The hospital has to keep them until they can find housing for them and let me tell you, nursing homes in Canada are disgusting.

As a worker in a nursing home, it is getting overwhelmed with the dynamics on people and their families. Due to estrngements so many have no where to go and end up in places like this. Trust we eventually see why noone wants to be bothered with them half the time as well as those who were completely abandoned. But sadly in the end were always the ones who get blamed and chastised

Understandably they don’t want to shut down the nursing homes that are doing these unethical things, so why not get rid of the individual people that are doing them?

Sadly a lot of us here in Canada are in nursing homes not safe for us to be. Staff are not the problem, it's management.

Things like this are what's happening now that state mental hospitals have disappeared. Group homes were mostly eliminated as well. No wonder there are so many homeless people, they have nowhere to go.

Hay iam sorry but this kind of miss treatment is not just happening in nursing homes but it is also happening in hospitals as well I know it happen to me ,my I was even told to get out of an ER examination room that they didnot won't me there they didn't even try to help me ,at one time in my life I was homeless and had almost the same thing happen to me as this poor man happen to him ,when is this kind of sick things going to end from sick minded hospital staff, you doctors and nurses that do this kind of mistreatment to us you really need to see a therapist and maybe even get locked up in a state medical ward to get some help that you people really need.
