for pre nursing students, if you're in Texas look into University of Texas Medical Branch! It's not associated with a college so they don't favor certain students over others (with University nursing schools sometimes they like to pick their own students over outside students), good NCLEX pass rate (my cohort had 100% pass in Jan. 2019!), roughly 40 minutes away from the Texas Medical Center (home to some of the best hospitals in the country & most of your clinicals are there), the school is attached to a Level 1 Trauma hospital (the highest level of trauma certification), and it's in Galveston so it's on the beach!

That shirt is super cute! I'm starting my program in 13 days ♥️ I got all my pre-nursing classes done at community college and now I'm transferring to a university. I didn't have a good high school GPA, but a good transfer GPA allowed me to get scholarships. Thankful for my community college!

In California the competition for both ADN and BSN programs is insane. I couldn’t get in with a 3.9 GPA and 89.3 on the TEAS. My friend couldn’t get in with a 4.0 GPA and 91 on the TEAS. I ended up choosing to go to an LVN program to get my foot in the door, get healthcare experience, and increase my chances of getting accepted into an RN program later on
@vivianaelizabeth32803 жыл бұрын
Yes! Most programs(community college) want people that have experience. I got in my first try at my local community college probably because i have cna experience. School goes by point system. Gpa 3.7, teas 73%, took extra classes for more points, work experience, and life experience letters which i wrote 5 so the school knows what kind of student they will be accepting.

I think your experience is pretty much similar to mine. Funds was the hardest, well I'm only in semester 2 but that was tough, questions were totally different from my prereqs. I also thought peds might be an option but after this clinical I'm like nooooo definitely not for me. I never took L&D into consideration only because everyone wants to do that but from the content only, I really like it. I haven't done the clinical yet, I will in like 2 weeks so I'm excited for that. There was like 2 times where I'm like "is this really for me?" It happened when I had a bad experience with a rude nurse and another time when I didnt do as good as I thought on an exam. I got over it eventually and I'm still doing it!

Hey girl. I loved this video. I also feel the same way when it comes to nursing school ITS HARD but I have not doubted for one second this isn't where I belong. I go to a private school to WEST COAST UNIVERSITY in Los Angeles and they are pretty expensive and it depends on your situation whether you should apply. I had a hard time deciding whether I should go there because of the cost. However I completed most all of my prerequistes at a community college and transferred the credits in and its not costing me the whole amount that they say. The total for starting at WCU is $130,000 THAT IF YOU HAVE NO CREDITS DONE. If you transfer credits in the amount varies and is much less. Everyone at that school owes and has different situation regarding loans and finances. Overall its a great school, its not easy either but I don't regret choosing that way. So many way to get into nursing school but research for what fits you is best for anyone reading this who hasn't applied.

I completely agree!! It’s hard and everyone will have their own journey but at the end of the day we’re all going to be nurses no matter where we went to school! 💗

Omg! I'm gonna start at west coast LA tomorrow too! Yes, you are right, the cost depends on your credits. I transferred all my credits and instead of 4 years I'm doing 2 years for a BSN . And the cost after financial aid is $20,000. I mean it's A LOT OF MONEY !!! But it's worth it. I got tired of being in waiting lists at community colleges near me. That's why I decided to go to a private school. But there are many ways to go to nursing. I wish you all the best, and let's be good nurses !!😁❤

Do not go the ADN route! You will not get a job! I live in California and the only job you can get with an associates degree is at a skilled nursing facility. You will get paid a minimum of $20 less than BSN RN's. If you can go the BSN route then get a BSN. ADN route is honestly a waste of time and money and you wont get a decent job.
@DailyDoseofNursing5 жыл бұрын
That’s so interesting that’s how it is in California. I have a already accepted a job and I haven’t even graduated yet. They don’t even have a difference in pay between ADN and BSN. And my hospital will pay for my BSN. 🤷🏽♀️ definitely depends on where you live. So no. Not a waste of time.
@yayamartinez14045 жыл бұрын
That’s interesting because I know someone who went through the ADN route who found a job fairly quick and makes good pay just as much as someone with a BSN.
