Nusa Lembongan Has Some Fun Waves

Nusa Lembongan is a small island just 45 minutes by boat from Bali. It has a number of reef setups which don't quite offer the same quality as Bali's, but are pretty fun nonetheless.
The breaks we filmed are pretty unique as they are surrounded by moored boats, floating pontoons (which we filmed from) and also floating waterparks! The waves weren't exactly what we were hoping for, but we will definitely be back to film again when the conditions are more favourable.

i was there over 35 years ago - three places to rent a basic room, no cars, one restaurant and no electricity after 9 pm. Trip over from Sanua in Captain Coconuts very sketchy boat. Oh and did i mention.... five in the water was a crowd! Happy days...

I've been on a week long surf trip on Captain Coconut's boat! This was ten years ago, so could have been a different one.. was quite a decent boat!

Yeah, same day Bali was pretty big. Surprised how little swell these breaks pick up - maybe direction was bad..

The breaks on Lembongan are facing towards Bali. The waves usually come up out of nowhere depending on the tide.

Playgrounds and lacerations are sheltered and swell needs to be big to wrap into those two breaks. Shipwrecks picks up way more swell and normally way bigger. Needs the high tide out going for the swell to get in. Nusa lembongan use to be covered in jungle. We use to stay over there for months. In the 80s We would get a boat over and stay with a local family in front of ship wrecks. You could surf with no other surfers around. It was about $5 a night.

@@Stopthegreed We may have crossed paths as I spent a lot of time there in the early 80's starting in 83 even did two visas (4 months) there in 86 however paid a lot less than $5 a night more like 1000rp at Tarzans down in front of Lacerations. Surfed Shipwreck mostly as it's bigger but when proper big swells hit double overhead Lacerations is a world class wave. Only downside is the tidal size thing, like 1' at low 6' at high, so you only surf the top half of the tide. By 86 even Lombongan was getting a bit busy in my book so moved on to Sumatra and its islands in explorer mode, happy days.

So I have to ask, you getting COVID tested well before travelling to these other islands? If not you may be leaving quite the trail of infection in your wake. Ditto the surfers chasing swells to Desert Point and the like. You could well be non symptomatic. Not much in the way of health care for older locals who surfers are buying food, drink etc from I would imagine. Good luck to you all getting uncrowded waves but there may be a high price paid by others for your folly.
