I was a 13 year old NYC teen when someone handed me the Global Meditation cd with Nusrat Fateh on it. I think I played Allah hoo 1,000 times. I fell in love with his voice. Now at 43 I still search for his voice and simply wonder in amazement at how it transcends culture and time with absolute and captivating beauty.

Christian here. This song hits hard tho. I love the beat. It’ seems like praise song, although Islamic. The singer is bold and vivacious. I love how he can hit high pitches and vocalize the beat. I am African American, and in our worship musical tradition praise songs tend to be lively at times.

Yes, this is a qawwali about the ultimate creator and God to all the prophets he revealed himself to, to Adam all the way through to Muhammad (Peace be upon them all). 'Allah' just means God in Arabic and 'Hoo' just means 'is'. No matter what religion we can just appreciate God.
