Dr. Barry E. LoSasso is a board-certified pediatric surgeon who has performed over 800 Nuss Procedures to repair pectus excavatum (commonly known as sunken chest), on both children and adults. Dr. LoSasso trained with Dr.Donald Nuss (creator of the Nuss procedure) at the Children's Hospital of the King's Daughter in Norfolk, Virginia before developing his own successful Nuss program here in San Diego at the Rady Children's Hospital.
The program has completely mirror-imaged the protocol established at the King's Daughter's, and maintains an on-going relationship with Dr. Nuss for continuing updates and improvements in our pectus program. In 2006, the program was awarded the "The Center of Excellence for Pectus Deformities", one of five centers of excellence in the United States, and the only one on the West Coast.

Had my surgery on September 27, 2018 at the Mayo Clinic with Dr. Jarosewski. Pain & recovery was a nightmare. But would I do it again? Heck yes. My life is already so much different now. My oxygen level is actually 99-100% now, when before I’d be at 94-95%. I can sing. Yay. I actually can sing and not be gasping for air in the 1st few words. Love my new life

@ nghia Pham : Of course. Ask away. Of course I can only answer you based on my own personal experience. Any medical questions should be addressed to the professionals. I have my 6 month follow up with Dr. J at Mayo next month. Life is waaaaaay better now. I can’t get over how much more functional I am since the surgery. 3 bars in my body, tough recovery, pain was deathly, and no narcotics for me. No sir....I refuse to poison my body. I did take a total of 4 morphine pills that first month because the pain was just about ready to kill me (or so it felt that way). Best advice I can offer is stay active. You won’t be able to do much after surgery, but do it. Get up, walk a few steps, do the breathing exercises.

@@alexa2979 i just got the date for the first meeting with a surgeon, i will tall to them first and we'll see if they do tests immediatly or on a later date. Then after tests etc. We will plan the sugery itself

I'm sorry, I thank you for the information however videos keep saying , the pain is manageable... I'm yet to watch ONE , ONE, patient who said pain is manageable...

The pain was manageable. I had the surgery in December last year. It was very painful at times but with the proper pain medication I was just fine!
