Why is everybody hating on Chicago's, production? I don't see why one production should be better than the other! This isn't even the full ballet! This is a little snippet of the battle. It's a great production in person! This is the Chicago Joffrey production.

@@12Haque Sometimes they change the role to a Mouse Queen instead depending on how many men are dancing in the production. Last year my dance school had a Mouse Queen instead of a Mouse King.

Ballet Arizona's version of the nutcracker is amazing! It puts this one to shame, the production itself is 1.8 million dollars. I'm so glad I was in it this year, i got to be a small toy soldier.

I know this part. Loved "The Nutcracker" for years. This is when the Christmas tree gets enlarged by the magic of Drosselmeyer, Clara is caught right in the dream of the upcoming battle of the toy soldiers and the mice, the sugar cannon goes "bang!", and the evil mouse king or queen appears. The Nutcracker doll - very small at the start of the ballet - turns into a real-life toy soldier who finds himself facing the evil mouse king or queen to the death. Then Clara does the "shoe" thing at the evil rat.

This is so scary that my body jumped at the sound of the cannon firing onstage. I saw this ballet with my grandparents when I was Clara’s age only it was seen at an opera 🏠 somewhere in the City By The Bay. 👍🏻 if your remember it well.

I thought that Clara was very graceful. This reminded me of my own company's Nutcracker because of the smaller children as mice. The comedy part with te soldier and mouse making friends was hilarious, but I think my company's Nutcracker is far more advanced. And our age range is 5-18.

So Cute!! When I was I was a soldier, we were all en pointe. Personally I like pointe soldiers better than flat. but they seemed young. We were older. Clara seemed good, though I wish she was en pointe..

Often times Fritz is played by a girl because there are so few boys who do ballet in smaller productions/dance schools. There needs to be a Nutcracker, and then possibly a Drosselmayer, but at my school, Drosselmayer is played by a professional, I don't know about other schools.

kelsea marie there's some boys but they are placed in levels.If there in advanced 3/3/4/5 that's ok. But if there in 2 or 1, no. My ballet does that.

Sorry I over-anticipated technically on the "gunshot" or "cannon shot" here in the ballet. The price of knowing the Nutcracker too much lays on my hands. Sorry. So, since I know a lot about theater and opera, I do not see the muzzle shot of the toy soldier's musket when it was in firing position at the evil mouse leader and the rats. So I have high confidence that in this Nutcracker production, the "bang" I heard was from a prop gun fired offstage. The reason - the concern about the 9-foot buffer regarding the "wad" when using theatrical guns on stage to discharge gunshots.

In the original story, as Clara throws the shoe at the mouse leader in the height of the rats vs. toy soldiers battle, the mouse leader gets knocked out for good, but Clara faints.
