I quite agree with you....but I have only been teaching for 40 years while being a professional ballerina 25 yrs of those before becoming an Artistic Director myself! So, what do I know!

Pas de deux music always makes me tear up - it's a beautiful score, makes you wonder what Tchaikovsky was thinking when he wrote it... Not crazy about her costume. But her (and his) performance was so well done, it surely didn't distract me from the reason I was watching and listening . Any negative comments reflects simple jealousy and non-appreciation for much tough training and practice ballet dancers are involved from childhood on up... and no, I'm not a ballet dancer, but appreciate it.

So much passion and emotion! I love seeing dancers like this. it gives the audience a beautiful feeling. performing on stage is so magical, and you can see the music flow through their dancing.

kate shanaman agree! Never thought about it until I watched a utube vid of a couple with colored costumes and scenery that were so sugarplumfairy land. Sounds wierd but I was really struck by how much it enhanced everything.

i think the technical side is excellent but the choreography apart from the amazing tricks lacked "dance" there seemed lots of walking round and only the lifts and "tricks" were the dancers connected

Anthony Smith I agree with what you said, but sadly most versions of this pas de deux are similar to this. For example in the royal ballet version they walk around a lot too :(

Stop at 1:39 Is not it fabulous? Stop at 2:01 Is not it just incradible? Look at her legs at 2:26 Is not it unbeliavable?! Look at the moves from 3:09 to 3:11 Is not it UNDISCRIBABLE?! Look at the final pose... ...and after this all,say that ballet is not the most beautiful dance in a whole world!!!! That was AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Regardless of what your taste may be, the choreography stays very close to the standard version performed all over the world. The fish dives are added, but the shape of the choreography is the same as the version one could see in Boston, London or, well, Columbia. I don't know these dancers, or this company, but the pas looks well danced. They both are very good--perhaps dry in places--but very good all the same. Not sure where the criticism of the choreography should be applied

Lots of people commented about her tutu. Even worse was the amateurish scenery: so much below the level of the dancing!

B E A U T I F U L!But I just wish her tutu was prettier.She's supposed to be the Sugar Plum Princess!And i wish the set design was more regal. All that should have been upgraded to do this beautiful choreography justice.

@lukebccb also, why lower your standards just because you are in Columbia? There are many truly great dancers that leave Columbia because there is not a company worthy of them staying for. CCB could be great, but is certainly being held back.

@lukebccb If it were a local 'troupe' as you say that may be different, but this is a 'professional' ballet company that receives A LOT of local funding. Quality is quality and this is not it. I am just giving an honest critique. I personally know the hard work that goes into every detail of a Ballet and know the sweat and tears behind it and I appreciate the dancers work, but, a professional company should be great, no matter in what city.

This is just ok. Poor choreography, dancer is good but not great, and I don't like the way she keeps opening her mouth. I think the horizontal tour throw into the fish dive was good - but was too much to do it twice in a row.
