Oh hey, LaDfBC here. Happy to give some commentary on why I made the plays I did and how I'm still learning and making some silly mistakes as I attempt to close in on a 1200 ranking. Definitely agree recons are a better plan than tanks here and am still watching the rest of the video as I write this.

It's not OCD causing me to "wait" my units - I have the version of ADHD that results in an absolutely awful memory, so I wait my units to ensure I haven't forgotten to do something before I end the turn. Though I agree it looks really silly and absurd.

Yes, the AA was to one-shot infantry without a Power usage. Was definitely one of the silliest mistakes I made this game.

oof, picked your poison choosing this replay to cast, considering you dislike stealths. To be honest: I love stealths! However, I did alot of mistakes that game, and I want to share my perspektive of the match with you. So the first decision about the CO pick was simply because I love to play Sami over everything. Sometimes it just happens that I like the playstyle of a character/faction/class so much in a video game, that I choose them every time, no matter where they stand in the meta. And it needs to be said that Sami right now is in a terrible place in the meta with the current map pool, atleast from my perspective. But eh, I take it. If she was good I would have more Sami mirrors and I dislike mirror matchups. About the map: It was my first game on it. And when I looked over it, I was like: yep, that's a Max map. Important middle, contested properties hard to cover with artillery, as the terrain is light, therefore tough to hold. Further, tough to get safe reinforcements on the strong side once middle is lost. The mixture of terrain on the strong side makes it so, that you really have a rough time to get out with units other than via the middle bridge. I thought at first the the city under the right base is easily defendable and also the right bridge and so I decided to aim for a airport lock that game. But it really isn't. Everything get's so cramped behind the river, especially if a missile is one of the units there, with it's poor movement. Probably more about to say about the map but whatever. I just saw the potential for a Airport lock and thought, I give it a try. A Max has very good copter so keeping him from that and put the pressure on him with a Stealth seemed valid to me. As he can't really do the same to me. About opening with Artillery? I'm not sure what I was thinking. Probably something like that: "Damn no 9k for tank, 2 inf. I don't want to baseskip, but also I want a vehicle this turn. I'm vs Max so let's build an arty". Terrible move. His tank did way to much covering and I lost all my pressure with my stronger inf, as my artillery can't cover as much of my them. On thing to note is that I doubted the viability of my opening alot, and played a match vs my Brother in the same matchup/map who is a 800-850 guy. Just to see if a aggressive style with tanks would be more fitting. After he destroyed me, he asked if I was playing for real or if I was just trolling :( Anyway. Even my opening wasn't optimal, still not a lost game at that point. There were 2 crucial turns I really dropped the game tho. First: turn 11, the oopsie with the artillery. I thought it was 1 space away from being hit by a tank.... Devastating, as it opend up the game to quickly, wich I wanted to avoid. Then not getting the kill on the tank oof... (I had no chance anyway to get it). I think the COP use was okay to use, I just needed some room to breath with the airport lock still going for me. That was my top priority. But probably could have saved for SCOP, really can't tell for sure. Game was still doable in my opinion, with the airport lock. Wich leads to my second, I think actually game losing mistake: Building 3 mechs, instead of a tank right, arty mid and Inf left base, moving the 5 hp inf near my on the road next to my middle base. Then next turn I could have moved the built tank on the forest to cover the missile, move the fresh arty to spaces to the right aswell for covering the city and the tank and keep the base lock intact. THEN building mechs for more vehicle-stoppping-power. Meanwhile the stealth could have been used to harrass and cover as needed until Max would have been bleed out. Probably would have been a loud and nasty victory and not cool and quiet like you would imagine with stealths, but winnable. Really salty that I lost because I blunderred that bad. I think youre spot on when you say midtier players play like 800s half of the time in a match and 1300s the others. Thanks for the covering that game was really fun. I'm on your side when if someone end turn with his units for no reason... Always triggers me, when I watch replays 😵‍💫 I get the point of it, but it looks super dumb, such a robot thing. Speaking of robots: The thumbnail hahahaha😂 Mechspambot🤖 Very fitting as I'm german, and there is this german efficiency meme existing. Not doing justice to it with a Stealthfighter shooting at inf with 1hp tho. Suprised your Stealth-O-meter didn't explode at that point. Looking forward to more standard games. But hey, whatever. Tank mobility and map coverage is so vital. You’re right, Artillery and Mechs give up so much territory advantage. It’s like having a Queen in the center of the board versus having a Pawn or Knight.

If yellow had done a better job of protecting his missiles and locked up that airport the entire game I think that stealth could've done an asston of damage. I don't think building the stealth was a mistake, but it was used badly, which made it into a mistake.

Interesting match, lots of good learning lessons from this. I also liked your statement of 1100 players make 800 and 1300 player moves. Trying to reenforce good moves and get rid of bad move behavior. I saw in the match mistakes I made in the past and sadly even now. One thing that’s great about these videos. While I remember some of the dialogue I never remember the majority of the match itself so the vids are very rewatchable. Am I the only one who can’t remember match details?

I was about to defend stealths then remembered I only use them in the war room, and only when playing as Hachi and even then half the time I just use them as roadblocks in whatever stupid choke point the map has. Stupid overpriced garbage with 60 fuel.

Interesting game! I feel Max is a better CO here, especially since it is so open. Very easy to front switch and move around compared to Sami's Mechs. LaDfBC should have kept his foot on the gas more as well. I think it would have been over sooner. Nice comeback attempt by Adept999 though. As always thanks for the insight Deejus! Would you ever consider a lower level match to go over? Might be interesting to see how all the different skills levels play.

I love Sami and when I look at the map it seems like a decent pick. 3 bases, small map. But the amount of roads and lack of chokes just kills it right there. Max just destroys her in this map.

Speaking of lower level games, how's low ladder AWBW? Asking because I want to get into it but I don't even know most COs or even what a Lab does. I'm afraid the starting ELO range is still way higher than my level and I'll just get kicked around left and right by everybody lol my only perk is being a Deejus subscriber

Deejus has a playlist that explains all the CO's and how to use them, as well as what maps they work best on. Labs in Ranked Games (Global League) don't do anything. They have 3 Terrain Stars, and do not give income or heal your units. In custom games, you set certain units to be buyable if said player captures the Lab. But in context to Global League, never capture them. They do have good terrain stars though. In Fog, they also reveal any enemy units that stand or cross through them but never rely on Labs for vision. So just watch his CO videos and don't worry about Labs.
