I think what guys seem to forget/ignore is the price of the Nux pedals. There’s just nothing around that competes in this price range, with the same quality. Another appealing factor is the simplicity of this pedal, especially for my age group, where technology baffles 🙂 Nice demo btw. CONGRATS ON THE 50K!

I'm very fond of my Iridium. It does what it does very well. It sounds excellent and has knobs on. Great when recording. Amp models are well thought out and subtle. It's like the old days - you learn to get the best out of your one amp. Live however, you're likely to need additional gear - mixer, eq, fx. With John's preset builds and tutorials I'm now using my HX Stomp more than ever. HX with Strymon Volante in the fx loop is a great combination. I can throw more DSP at the amp blocks.

Nice- looking sky blue finish on that Strat. Very sharp; it was why I clicked on this, although I have in fact been looking up this Nux sim stomp quite a lot. Since I’m here, lol.. I want this, but tbh I don’t need it. Damned GAS, lol. The Tech 21 flagship floor amp modeler I already have does so many things so well, that it wouldn’t be silly to regard it as being a miracle or something. And I’ve got the second-from-flagship Zoom floor device, which I bought for their strange effects, but that dev have suddenly become masters of amp simulation now, which caught me by pleasant surprise. Their simulated amps were never terrible, but until this new stuff, Zoom amp sims seemed more like an afterthought. But hmm, gear is fun to buy, so maybe it’s inevitable that I get this, and I’m also GAS-fixated on that Joyo cab sim/IR. Buying both of those would be interesting! Great demo; you’ve provided a really good overview of what this Nux is about.

@@itchyvinyl Thanks for the info. I actually did try an Amp Academy, but felt the Twin setting was thin sounding. John, I trust what you say, and I think your channel is one of the best on HX Stomp. You take away all the potential it offers. I intend to use a Preamp/Ir pedal in the HX Stomp loop and just use the effects. But I wanted versatility, and of course, the amps were equal to or better than the HX Stomp. Would you recommend NUX Amp Academy to me? Do you feel like you can make a full-bodied sound like VOX AC 30? I found Twin Reverb sound dry. But the drives seem to be excellent.

Very good sounding tones, and nicely designed computer interface. Do you think those tones could be produced by the HX Stomp? I think NuX did a good job with usable tones right out of the box. I have an old Rockman (very niche tones), and a SansAmp. I always liked the tones from the SansAmp, but it's been replaced by my Stomp, as I was able to get similar tones from it.

Stereo doesn't matter to me unless fx are involved and this doesn't have any except reverb. I owned an Iridium for about a year and didn't care for it at all; I thought its Fender was just flat-out awful, though the Vox and Marshall were much better. I got mine used so was able to sell it without great loss, but I think the iridium is way overpriced. The Amp Academy seems placed between the Iridium and my Atomic Aplifire A6 in terms of features, but appears to be a much better deal for the money than the Iridium. The A6 is a more useful tool for my purposes, but it costs even more than the iridium (I use mine constantly though and think it's very good with only some minor downsides for my purposes), *and* Atomic does not appear to be making them any more.
