Nice one Mike! I was very lucky to get this card on launch date in the UK! Felt like I was maybe 1 of 10 people that got one! Was getting £1200 2080TI performance for £469 in 2020! This was the joint third fastest card money could buy back then. Crazy how times moved on! Feels like 3000 series is 1-2 years old max. Impressed by those 4K averages! I only used it at 4k so was surprised to see it do so well.

thanks for the card and it is a stunning looking card, the founders edition really got good here. the 12 pin connector was and still is a sore point for the majority of people.

​@@mikesunboxing No problem! Enjoy! I used to have a native corsair 8 pin to 12 pin connector to remove the silly adapter or any need for extensions! Went straight into the psu. Made a big difference. :)

Mike!The 3070 FE is well known to over clock with ease. Bumping the Memory speed to 8000mhz can give you a nice little boost on some games! Clock speed will also go up a bit without any changes to voltages. Used to do this on the other 3070FE I owned back in 2021 when I gave mining a very brief try! I’m sure this one would be the same sort of stability with those tweaks.

Since I found out you got one of these bad boys Ive been interested to see how it fares against the 3060ti. My 3060ti can still kick it at 1440p and even 4k in some games without any issue....and thats being paired with a AMD 3600 !!! the 30 series cards are certainly still relevant today even with "only" 8GB RAM. Think youve bagged yourself a bargain from the legend Mr Aitken, thanks for sharing your thoughts on this 🙂

cheers BOB! and yes i have been thinking the 3060ti is very similar in a lot of ways to this, it is essentially the same setup, with a few more cuda cores. both still very good cards in 2024 and if the 4k is anything to go by, the 1440p or 1080p is going to be great

My 3070 still slaps. I run a mix of high and medium with dlss quality and easily hit a steady 60fps capped on a 4k tv. Its the perfect little card for a living room pc.

It’s getting harder to recommend even these last generation mid tier GPU for newer UE5 titles and other new engines utilising baked in Ray Tracing like Avatar etc. For everything else game wise prior to this these gpus are still more than adequate. I feel we’re at a transition point in the graphics industry and we’re going to need massive boosts to entry level gpus and up in the next generation or two of gpus by AMD and Nvidia, including minimum 12GB vram on entry level gpus to get new graphics engine games to play with 60+ fps and medium to high settings even at 1080 and 1440p

I'm actually quite surprised at how well this card performs at 4k. I play in 1440p with this card, and for the most part, it performs great. I mostly run at medium-high settings, as this definitely isn't a card for 4k ultra in most current/modern games. GPU temps are a little high for my liking in 4k, I did notice you are running at 75 degrees. Looks like it's running really well though, great video!

Here in NZ the used market is flooded with 30 series cards now and prices are dropping every month. I'm thinking about finally upgrading to one now that the prices are reasonable. It has taken along time to see a price drop here. I refused to pay a crazy price during the shortage.

yeah RAM count isn't quite as important as a lot of people make out, just lower the textures a little and it is possible to run your favourite games

Good performance and nice looking gpu. Intend to upgrade dters rx570 but when you look at rx5700xt they sit up to £200 so start looking at new gpu options. but then wonder about rx6700 or 3060s. Hi, Mike. To be honest, I've actually only had one Nvidia GPU, a 1660 TI, and the experience was so negative that I won't be getting another one. However, when it comes to gaming, the low frame rates I saw in this video would be way too hard on my eyes, regardless of the resolution. I typically game on a 32" 1080p 165 Hz monitor, so I need a GPU that can handle 165 FPS or more. That's why I opted for a 16GB RX 6900 XT; anything less than that and my vision starts to blur within 20 minutes.

I've recently relegated my RTX3070 FE to my daughters PC in favour of the 4070TI Super. The problem I found with the 12 pin connector is trying to vertically mount it with a normal 120mm tower cooler - it's right in the way! Other than that, it's a fairly decent card imo. Thanks for the video.

i go for higher resolution and lower quality settings. Think about what you can see. 1080 ultra is a lot of textures but in a tiny screen, it needs more physical pixels to actually make it look good. 1440p medium high can look the same as 1080 ultra in some instances, i aim for that or 4k low / medium and i have a massive amount of extra pixels for definition

i slightly regret the 4070 super with the 12GB but it was very well priced at £500, so jumping to the 16GB model is an extra 250 -300 which is a big jump for me

You may dont like it but using two 2080ti is waste of money if you dont have free energy.. at first, new games doesnt support SLI so you can enjoy it only in old games otherwise only one card will be utilized.. secondly, 2080ti sli will take 250+250 W in load .. 😂 if u use it for 8 hour daily it will cost you about 526$ just in energy per year if it cost 0,35$ per kWh .. it depends on where you live and energy cost.. i use this example as mid European

I still prefer the 12Gb 3060 even though it's slower as it still seems to load texture files on more memory-hungry games where the 8Gb 3070 just can't do it. A reasonable frame rate with decent textures is a better experience for me. I'm hoping the 5070 will give a good performance boost at an affordable price when it's released. But who knows.
