850m is technically very similar to 950m (only difference is that 950m is slightly higher clocked) You can find a detailed comparison here: www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-950M-DDR3-vs-GDDR5-Review.159861.0.html between ddr3 and GDDR5 here. Since that is the main difference. (The tested on the video is GDDR5, which is faster) There should be a difference of 10-20% performance hit depending on the game

Its ram. Dual channel is very important for gaming. He has 16gb ram in dual channel. If you have only one stick of ram then u lose performance.

Could you record a video and see what it does? That's how I got 200 fps while running Fortnite and valorant on my x550jx

It depends on what games you want to play. For some more demanding titles, the NVIDIA GTX 950M may struggle to keep up with the recommended settings (but you can put them on low). However, for less demanding titles, it should be able to handle them at decent settings with ease. If you're looking to play more demanding titles, then you may want to look for something with a more powerful GPU. Eitherway for that kinda money its a great deal and will run most of the games out there.

@@ZGI Idk why but I have an i7-6700HQ with GTX950M but it sometimes can't even run valorant on lowest settings(sometimes it runs it REALLY well, on highes graphics and everything)...I scanned for any viruses and malware and there is none, and thermals are pretty normal too. I've installed latest drivers and Windows updates and changed the power plan(followed a KZbin video on what the settings are). Is there a way for me to know if something is wrong with my CPU or GPU??? (Like from usage and clock speed and stuff)

You can try few things: Like running "MSconfig.exe* on Run and disable all start items, also check the settings tab and uncheck the "microsoft services" see if something weird usually with no name comes up. Also if you have Win 10 you might try windows Recovery tool (Reset the windows with all applications and items intact) Check the temperatures too, download HWmonitor or HWinfo32/64 and see if the 950m or your CPU goes above 80 'C easily.

Hmm that's one slow HDD. Even 5000 RPM is considered a Survilence type of HDD and it's not for gaming. Usually HDD's are 7200, and they are Okay for games. Maybe(actually i'm sure) upgrade to SSD will solve multiple problems for you. Also The specs otherwise are great for a laptop, it will only generate ALOT of heat. So proper thermal paste and cooling solution is needed (raising the laptop and cleaning it) Best time to clean the laptop would be when you change the HDD i guess

That's due to the CPU for the most part. 3 issues, thermal throtling (99% this is the problem, Overheating CPU or GPU), System optimization, bloatware or unwanted apps taking high percentage of CPU in background As for thermal managment being the most common issue. 1) you can open your laptop and clean it thoroughly (follow some guide for your particular laptop on youtube) 2) easy fix would be raising your laptop so it can breath air 3) also second easy fix, blow some air with a straw or directly put your mouth to the air vents (i know it sounds weird but it should clear the copper passive cooler) 4) one should try and keep the system out of bloathware and erradicate/ remove unnecessary apps running in background, so they won't engage the processor. If that doesn't work, system format/reset should be done. We usually do once in 5-6months. It's highly recommended & everything above that is just slowing the system no matter how good you take care of it.

There are quite a few models and varieties of laptops and versions of this gpu. With different frequencies aswell. Not to mention the difference in cooling solution and software optimization itself. So one can expect somewhat different performance in rare cases.

You should check the settings (if same aswell). Check for thermal throtling if you have high temps we strongly advise to cool your laptop and PRIMARILY change your thermal paste, if you can't go to some computer store to do it for you. Laptops are heavily dependant on good cold temps.^^

I have a problem since I have the same GPU GTX950M Specs: GTX950M 4Gb Intel I7 5500U 2.4hz (boost 3.0hz) 8Gb DDR3 Ram (Single channel) AV Temp GPU 81/91 (Pretty normal for a laptop GPU to reach 90 and since the day i bought the pc it was like that and the performance was great) And i use to get so much more fps in the past then i do now And i also would never get the performance this guy gets in a million years. I know people say Upgrade your Ram to dual channel and get a SSD but that wont work. Yes the Ram will allow for less stutters and FPS drops but base fps wont increase much. And a SSD wont help with fps at all. Loading game assets will be faster and loading in to matches will be faster but FPS won't be effected. SSD (Wont increase FPS) Dual channel Ram (Yes its good to have but i never had problems with it and only now i get low FPS) in some older games i use to get 60FPS i only get 32 or so ATM? Is my pc just getting worn out or old is there something or is the Temp that is underclocking the GPU and CPU?

your CPU is U model so it's trash they re not designed for game man it will burn if fps wouldn't drop it decreases GHz to lower the temp

@@onurscofield5178 I do think your right the CPU is trash to start with. But the fact that temp was always hight and i got so much fps in the past but only now having troubles tell me something else is going on And the CPY is rated to be able to go to 105 Celsius and i rarely reach 90. I think i got about high 70 or to mid 80 at the start is it might be undervolting. Would you suggest a Thermal compound replacement? Since i do notice a cpu bottleneck when the temp reach 92.

i got a problem very similar with a 950m 4gb gddr3 and an i7 4720HQ, i got so less fps than before, it begins around 2021, maybe october, and trying everything didn't found a solution, how's you problem 3 months later?

@@LilArnie001 replaced my themal compound and that heped a lit. And what i did was get ThrotalStoper application and underclocked my CPU to 2.0Hertz Found my temps to go down fo about 75 to 80 Fps got better but it is still not what it use to be. So that tells me the cpu has goted worn out and cant go on as it use too.

@@onurscofield5178 i habe done that and got a some more FPS. But only by a small margin. And no the cpu is designed for gaming from the ground up. Its just not made to hande 2022 games. Older games it handles it self fine. Its a good match with the 950u without any bottlenecks. Its just getting old now and overused.

i have same laptop but with 4gb nvidia gtx 950m ... and in valorant i have 30fps and in gta v i play on low stats to have 60 fps... u know what is the problem ? i changed the windows for few times in w10 pro / home / w 8.1 / w 11 ... i cleand inside the laptop , new paste ... the temperature GPU in game is 67 degreese and cpu 50 .... idk what to do anymore to can play ok games ...

Valorant is mainly CPU dependant. Also check if Vsync is by any chance ON, it should be off. Maybe the CPU is abit slow, so removing all bloatware and running processes in the background can help out.

@@ZGI is a hp pavilion gaming f15 , i7 7600hq 3.5ghz , 12gb ram ddr3 1600mhz , with 2 video cards integratex hd intel 530 and nvidia 950m 4gb , 2 x ssd 250gb .. and i play with low settings in 35 maxim 45 fps... and i lookd on yt at the same laptop like mine they play in 120 , 150 fps . i will go tomorrow in service to see if the guy from there can solve the problem.

Unfortunately, the 950m is DX12 but API only DX11_0 So no go Elder Ring. It's sad really because the graphics are like in 2013

That's due to the CPU for the most part. 3 issues, thermal throtling, System optimization, bloatware or unwanted apps taking high percentage of CPU in background As for thermal managment being the most common issue. 1) you can open your laptop and clean it thoroughly (follow some guide for your particular laptop on youtube) 2) easy fix would be raising your laptop so it can breath air 3) also second easy fix, blow some air with a straw or directly put your mouth to the air vents (i know it sounds weird but it should clear the copper passive cooler) 4) one should try and keep the system out of bloathware and erradicate/ remove unnecessary apps running in background, so they won't engage the processor. If that doesn't work, system format/reset should be done. We usually do once in 5-6months. It's highly recommended & everything above that is just slowing the system no matter how good you take care of it.
