Yep I get shit from people cause I have a 7900xt and I'm like I have performance better than most nivida cards for much cheaper and the ray tracing stuff gets brought up and I'm like like I don't care would rather a high Frame rate than improved lighting which doesn't improve that much given most modern games have great lightning Ray tracing in old games is extremely noticeable and I can tell when it's on its just not worth the performance hit at the moment.

Nvidia is more expensive because it is not only for gaming but for uses that you aren't using it for, like 3d rendering and workstations and animation etc. In these uses, a 7900 has the same performance of a 2060 super, so unfortunately some people are just stuck with Nvidia because of their work. So basically if you are only gaming, then there is no point of buying Nvidia.

When I had to upgrade my 3070 because of its paltry 8gb, I was pissed because I had it less than 6 months before that started becoming a problem. I was mad at nvidia. I wanted to go AMD. But first problem was, I need dldsr. I just need it. Aliasing is my arch nemesis and nothing in computer graphics bothers me more than aliasing. And that, plus reshade is my best tool against it when games have bad AA. AMD has VSR but from what I understand its more like legacy dsr and not that great. Another problem I went on to discouver was pricing in my area. Nvidia cards were equivalent to US MSRP, AMD cards were not. I don't know who's fault that is, but it was the reality. This is back when 40 series cards were coming out and amd had nothing so they were slashing prices. But none of those slashed prices came to my country.... So I got drunk, held my nose and bought a fing 4090.

I'm very happy with my XFX 6800xt i play all the AAA titles on a ultrawide 1440p monitor and now with frame gen i know i will be able to keep my card for about 5 years my card in 3d mark gpu score is over 23,000 i also am rocking a 7950x3d i scored it new unopened on jawa for 400 bucks about 4 months ago

nVIDIA didn't even need GDDR6X for their high-end cards. Somehow, the RX 7900 XTX doesn't have GDDR6X VRAM but is still faster than the RTX 4080 Super. Only the RTX 4090 outclasses the RX 7900 XTX and that has nothing to do with the fact that the RTX 4090 has 24GB of GDDR6X VRAM while the RX 7900 XTX "only" has 24GB of GDDR6. The nVIDIA devotees really need to give their heads a shake. I have to disagree with your assessment that the RX 7900 XT is the best bang-for-your-buck high-end GPU that ATi has ever made because overall, the greatest GPU to ever come out of Markham was the RX 6800 XT. Just imagine the performance of the RX 7800 XT in a card that was released FOUR YEARS AGO. I honestly believe that the Radeon RX 6800 XT is the only card that was better in its day with regard to performance, longevity and value to actually exceed the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti. What drove me nuts is just how slept-on that card was by reviewers with so many of them using the RX 6900 XT instead, a card that was 54% more expensive than the 6800 XT but only offered 9% better performance. The RX 7800 XT is very similar to the RX 6800 XT in terms of performance and is identical with regard to VRAM and people today are praising its performance when the RX 6800 XT had that performance when it was released back in October of 2020, a month that I call "Red October" because it was Radeon's true return to the high-end of the market. If you want to talk longevity... the longevity of the RX 7800 XT will be very solid at 1440p, there's no question about that. However, keep in mind that the RX 6800 XT will keep step with it despite already being four years old. I have an ATi OG Reference RX 6800 XT and it is kept safe in its original box in pristine condition. It really is the G.O.A.T. even though most people don't even think about it for some stupid reason. I completely agree with you that people should be buying video cards based on hardware features like GPU horsepower and VRAM instead of software features like RT and DLSS because software can be updated and added but the hardware that a video card is born with is the same hardware that it dies with.

Nvidia can use GDDR6 but GDDR6X pave the way to GDDR7 development the same way GDDR5X did for GDDR6. Not really a bad thing when we consider HBM failed to become mainstream for consumer grade product.

I'm actually super stuck between getting a 4070ti super or a 7900XT(However I've ruled it out since only one or two cards fit in my case, and one seems to have a poor thermal profile for it, and the other, if it fits, would be Millimeters from hitting the other end of my case.) So now I'm beginning to wonder if a 7900GRE would be any worth it, I also don't plan to overlock or undervolt anything since I have no experience with any of it. I also could get another case and get the XT variant, I'm just honestly not sure what to do.

I like AMD for the low end. But you can't sell a $500+ GPU that's missing basic modern hardware that a RTX 2060 and Arc a310 have. Not giving gamers dedicated AI and RT cores on a high end product is offensive. Of the last 12 games that Techpowerup has done performance reviews on only 1 needed over 11gb for 4k ultra (it used exactly 12gb). 6 of them had RT always on, and all looked better with DLSS quality at 1440p and 4k than "native" TAA. The AMD AI GPUs having dedicated AI cores shows that they could give them to gamers, but profit margins. I own a Rx 6800 and 4070S and play at 1440p. Not once did my 6800 ever use more than 10-11gb of vram. With my 4070S I always use DLSS for the better image quality, the extra performance is just a free bonus. The extra vram on the 6800 felt like having 64gb of system memory for gaming instead of 32gb. Both companies have parts of the market that they excel in, and they are bad in the other half. Both skimp on some of the hardware. I'd just prefer that the hardware I'm getting is actually used in modern games and doesn't just sit there doing nothing. Maybe 2 years after we get a new console generation or if they find a way to add more pixels to a 1440p screen (joke) 12gb could cause issues. But not nearly as many issues as running everything on the shaders and not having basic modern hardware.

I'm not trying to defend Nvidia, at the end of the day they are doing what makes them the most money, but honestly I in partly understand one of the reasons why they DON'T want to keep pushing for more VRAM. At the current landscape it's just an unwinnable race. If the next generation of cards from Nvidia, AMD and Intel all came with 16Gbs default, I 100% guarantee you in a matter of months every new crappy AAA game and port would require 16Gbs minimum. Yes, technology on the software side is evolving and we need the extra VRAM, but it's a very similar issue we see with storage: when the users get better hardware, studios/publishers instead of utilizing that power for better things, simply cut costs and stop optimizing their games. Last decade we had consoles with very limited hardware that forced these companies to use their resources smartly, but now that consoles are more in line with modern PCs they just dump it all on us. What Nvidia is doing, and in part AMD following them, is to put a minimum standard at 8Gb for 1080p, then 12Gbs for 1440p and 16Gbs or more for 4k. By artificially capping the available VRAM and showing that the next generations will follow this trend, maybe companies will adapt to these values and be forced to actually use resources more sparingly.

Many talks abouth performance, but no one talks about quality of the PCB and components on graphical cards between NGreedia and AMD. NGreedia is using almost the chepest components and layout of PCB on there products, while AMD is using high quality components and PCB on there products!! And we saw it in the 3000 series and now in 4000 series even more cheaper stuff.

3060 to 4060 is actually a downgrade the performance improve is just a slight boost on 4060 but the lower vram from 12 to 8 gb is a massive downgrade + both has gddr6 sure if 4060 has gddr6x, then it is an upgrade and the performance should be even more better, but the difference 3060 and 4060 is... kinda weird, like it's just a key to access to the new features since it has FG in it (great feature but bad for competitive online games) and FG isn't boost the performance at all, it's just add another frames to make it looks smoother but the cost is latency but now, 5060 is likely to use gddr7 (i hope so) which is a real generational leaps (in terms of vram), but idk bout the performance. i'm going to buy it cuz i can't use this 2060 super anymore, it's bottlenecked my ryzen 5600.

Froggy. You got some good points like Nvidia's bad upselling strategy. But for once I want you to shout at AMD and absolutely demand some super critical stuff!!!!!!!! 1) Make FSR Better!!!!! It's the worst upscaler in the industry and literally everything else is better. I don't even turn it on on my beloved ROG ALLY. It's miles behind NVIDIA and it's a critical feature. I can't wait to see even Switch 2 handling upscaling like a boss from like 540p. 2) We need better software from AMD. AMD sucks for creative workloads. AMD still doesn't have a quicksync competitor (AMD VCE sucks). AMD has really improved for encoding recently due to AV1 but ffs they don't include AMD ReLive for APU drivers!?? Why tf they don't? My Ally has RDNA3 780m iGPU with hardware accelerated AV1 encoding and yet no AMD Relive?! Why? 3) Need an RTX Broadcast alternative. You have no idea, how well NVIDIA's suite of creator focussed tools work! I recently purchased an RTX 4060 laptop for like 750 usd and RTX Voice is a boon for someone like me from India where ambient temps can be 40°C and I am able to record voice over without having to turn off the ceiling fan! It makes terrible mics sound good! It's a life saver! AMD's noise suppression sucks in comparison. It's terrible. 4) RTX Video HDR and RTX HDR - absolute magic! These directly improve gaming experience due to excellent SDR to HDR conversion! RTX Video HDR is a killer feature for me!!! My RTX 4060 laptop literally solved the lack of HDR content for me! It's sooo good! Froggy there are issues with AMD! There are always these ifs and buts. Why can't they come up with a solid product that gets at least one segment right. Yes not even gaming is perfect due to that terrible FSR upscaler. At least if FSR is improved, it'll be so much more easy to recommend AMD GPUs.

first of all happy birthday ...the 1st reason for all that is lack of competition... nvidia's market share on pcs is something like 85% 2nd reason is dlss matter my friend it reallyyy matters..is so much better than fsr and in some cases even better than native upscaler of the game..3rd reason compatibility with most developers, drivers on time ..user friendly for streaming render etc...4th reason power consumption... 5th reason amd prices... you don't have ai turing in your card and you charge in most comparable models 50-80 euros or bucks lower... thats not going to do it when your product is clearly inferior...and last one personal reason ..i have a mini itx pc the only cards that fits this form factor is nvidia cards..for some reason amd doesn't care form mini itx anymore

As an owner of a rx6800 and happy with it have unfortunately come to the conclusion that upscaling and frame generation are the future of gaming. What i want and what the developers want are 2 different things. Rasterization is a thing of the past with most of the games coming out with RT built in. So my next gpu will most likely be a Nvidia one, but we will see when the comparisons come out.

RT and upscaling have already been the future. I hope FSR4 is a real thing because PSSR crushes FSR. Crazy to think a console will have better upscaling than my $900 7900XTX. RDNA 4 is also rumored to move to BVH8 for ray tracing which is what's on the PS5 Pro vs BVH4 on RDNA2 and RDNA3

Either way you go, you're getting gimped on something. With AMD, you don't get DLSS or good ray tracing, but you get more VRAM and more raster performance for the money. With Nvidia, you get less VRAM usually and less raster performance, but you get DLSS and decent ray tracing. Next generation AMD will only compete with the RTX 5070 in raster, but they will probably lose still with ray tracing. When FSR4 comes out, I think Nvidia will lose their DLSS advantage, but for high-end performance there will be no other choice than Nvidia. As for now you just have to pick your gimp unless you have over $1600 to get a graphics card with.

I totally agree with you even though you bashed my 7700xt gpu that runs well for Cuberpunk and Black Myth Wukong. Anyway, I made a similar video to this and your other recent vids regarding Nvidia prices vs AMD deals.
