AMD will absolutely provide price pressure for everything below the 5080, which I do expect to be around $1400-1600! The 4080 Super will have to drop below $1000 if AMD launches an 8800 XT (that gets 85-90% of the way there) for only $500. I'd expect at least a $200 price drop...

That paragraph quoting "analysts" makes absolutely zero sense! If you "boost shipment" quantity, then that would lower prices not increase them; but forget about it being just $2000 though. I do, however, expect prices to go up because this will be a mostly paper launch, with only enough cards to say that they launched a new card that took the thunder out of AMD's 8800 XT launch. Why would nVidia sacrifice manufacturing capacity that could go to making more AI cards that they can sell for much more. Expect scalpers to be out in full force on release day, and if cards come back in stock this year, it will be a miracle!

I have a question about 5080. I have a PCIe 4.0, and I won`t upgrade to a PCIe 5.0 motherboard just because of a graphics card. I wonder if I can use the 5080 on my PCIe 4.0 and still be faster than a 4080 Super. I want to buy the 4080S and I can wait for the 5080, I have a 64GB Ram 3600Mhz and a 5950X Undervolted with all 32 Threads working over a 5025Mhz, I don`t want to change my system until 2017 when It will be a extreme jump in upgrade and maybe I start feeling I am loosening performance.

The 4090 and 5090 work fine on PCIE 3.0 motherboards. Any PCIE x16 gpu will work fine on any PCIE 3.0 or higher motherboard. PCIE 5.0 is just for nvme speeds right now.

@@pf100andahalf I understand, but my point is, how much performance I will lose using a PCIe 5.0 card on a PCIe 4.0 motherboard, or 5000 Series in a PCIe 4.0 motherboard it will faster than a regular 4080 Super on my motherboard PCIe 4.0? This is my point. I don't know if I buy the 4080 Super now on a nice price spot or wait for the Knife on the heart of the released price the 5080 card... doubts.

@@Ninjutsu2K 2 or 3 fps difference so it doesn't matter. Graphics cards can't even saturate pcie 3.0 bandwidth. PCIE 5.0 will make zero difference with graphics cards, only nvme's kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y4XOkJubZauegc0

@@Ninjutsu2K You most likely lose close to nothing because they run on PCIe x16, if they were running on x8 5.0 for example, and you were using it on PCIe 4.0, then it would be running at x8 and would compromise a lot of performance (as is the case with the RX 6500 I believe). GPUs still don't require more bandwidth than PCIe x3.0 x16 as far as I'm aware, so you'd be fine, however, try to do some research on the topic to be doubly sure. Btw I thought of doing the same like you are, since I also got a 5950x (in this instance, only buy the a 4080S/5080), I'm pretty sure it will fare well at 1440p/4K, you will lose some performance compared to a 7800x3D but it should still give a great experience. Also, that overclock is amazing, mine only reaches somewhere around 4.7GHz.

So the hype train starts again. Everyone gets excited, then prizes are published and nearly everyone rant about it but still buy those overpriced cards. The only interesting thing is how much the 4090 will cost on the secondary market after the 5090 has launched.

I am quite excited about rdna 4 and intel battlemage actually, nvidia cards might give the highest performance but i think amd's right about gamers not needing that much performance, most people use 1080p or 1440p so a rtx 4070 rtx 4070ti tier modern card at around 400 dollars would most definitely sell much better than whatever 2 grand bullshit nvidia is making.

And here comes another NON-consumer card, but passed off as a consumer graphics card, or even worse, passed off as a gaming graphics card. Nvidia is gearing up to replicate the marketing move already successfully executed, passing off the 4090 as a "consumer graphics card" (about as much as an AMD Threadripper is a consumer CPU) just to have the excuse to push up the prices of all the "inferior" graphics cards, and to keep the prices of the 3000 series graphics cards, currently still in circulation, unchanged for almost two years as well. In the meantime, we still don't have a CPU capable of keeping up with a 4090 without bottlenecking, but we're already hyped for leaks about the phenomenal promised performances of a 5090 that will be even more powerful and even less "consumer" than the 4090... and we'll fall into the trap once again. But why should Nvidia do differently? It's us being so idiotic to fall for it every time...

It will be overpriced. It will be awesome and powerful. RTX 4080s will dive in price. I'll still not buy a card because I won't need a card. When I am ready I'll check price/performance and very likely buy another AMD card. It stinks, but Nvidia has been overpriced for a very long time. I don't see them ever stopping unless high priced cards stop selling. Good old supply and demand at work. I am a gamer. I am not into AI. I do not need those features.
