this is a great idea, been toying with the idea of getting a dedicated NAS for plex setup. But for lower cost and what you can get extra, using a shield with an SSD seems like a reasonable adjustment. Great Vid

Still all Greek to me brother. Got my sound system hooked up and I'll email you some pictures. Sounds awesome!! 👍🏾👊🏾✊🏾🙂💯

It's not greek if you pay attention..... The goal is to connect the storage on your Nvidia Shield so your Windows PC can see the storage which allows you to easily move files between the devices so you don't need crap like downloader app. You could actually put the file on the drive you want it on and be in charge of what you put where. This is how to set it up like someone who knows what they are doing. You can actually take control of your hardware. Literally everything is exactly the same if you would just follow his instructions and click what he tells you to. It's all right there. You could ignore the extra info at the end about Crystal disk. Cool app and I will check it out but it's not really relevant to everything before it unless you want to see exactly what the read write speeds are.

Great video. This is top-level quality Nvidia Shield advice. I've been mentioning this for a while. Please do more of this type of content which lets all these amateurs and casuals actually set up their devices and network the right way. No one needs things like the downloader app if they have done this to do things right. When your setup is done correctly you don't need redundant unnecessary extra apps. I would actually also add an important tip that for your Nvidia Shield you should assign a static IP address to that device. That can simply be done in your router settings. Also very easy for amateurs who are learning. Great way to get their feet wet with basics so the devices they use in their home stay working correctly. For example my Nvidia Shield is anytime I need to point any app to anyting on my shield, this is memorized and I never have to look it up. Huge benefit to assigning static IPs. Everybody who owns an Nvidia Shield needs to take the time to set it up right with the tips you give in this video. This is one of the absolute most important and best ways to unlock your Shields true potential.

Nice video. Networking ignorant. What 5+ bay NAS can transfer very large files to Shield without buffering and doesn't cost an arm and a leg to buy?

Great video! I'm doing this with an NVMe in a USB 3.1 enclosure. Any recommendation on file system format? Tried exFAT (for OS compatibility) and was greatly disappointed in file transfer rate from Windows PC to Shield-NAS (all over gigabit wired network). Do I need NTFS or other format to improve this?

Are you using T-Mobile Home Internet? If so, how do I set that static IP address with it? Is another router needed? Please do a follow up.

Great video but when I do this all I can find is the internal storage remotely... It doesn't see the removable drive... Any thoughts?

I was hoping this would tell me how to connect to an existing NAS with 10s of TB of stuff. That's what I want to play.

Did you buy the Synology yourself or got it as a freebie? Either way, I'm jealous. I'd like to buy one myself someday.

I have a cone, so all that you are talking about doesn’t mean much to me. Good advice for those with a PRO. All I have is a SanDisk 256G SD card that I use for extra storage for more apps. That’s all that I know. Still peace to you all.
