Crystal you should update your video and include a report option. You will want to select "new report via wizard", then select "from a view" and "code" and "next". Then choose the available fields, go to "code" and expand and select "hierarchical name" and move it to selected fields. Go further down to "coded file.coding reference" and select "coded text" and move to selected fields. On step 5, I would suggest changing orientation to landscape. save the report on step 7 and hit finish. You will now have a report that has all parents and children at each level of coded text.

@@joqinaau9629 after that, you can save the report file by using share => export=> chose the location you want. That's it

... and you can also have an option to export the report to excel (right click on the report and you will see the option!). I actually had to test what Kevin suggested several times to come up with the optimal result:) I wished NVIVO had provided more transparent guidance on this basic issue.

I am so grateful for this video. I have been wondering how to export quotes and couldn’t find any other videos that provided instructions. Bravo! God bless you for creating this video!!

Thanks, it was informative. I am currently facing a serious problem in Nvivo. I made a mistake, and search many videos, and could not find a relevant video.

great thank you - really helpful. You'd have thought the software would make some of this much easier and export all in the tree at once

Sadly this has been a pain in my butt for a few years now. Why they don't allow download for the entire tree without aggregating at the parent node is beyond me.

Thank you for this super helpful video! Do you know if there is a way to view and export all the references for a single file, rather than all the references for a node?

Hello dear Crystal, I wish you could have able to make another video on how to use these codes inside the research! I mean once we categorize the themes and export them, how can we use them? I mean like can we quote? how to analysis them? Thanks

Unfortunately I'm not really qualified to give any guidance on that. Perhaps there are other tutorials on KZbin or one of your professors can help? Good luck!

Hi there! I'm sorry I don't have an answer to your question. I suggest you contact a research librarian or NVivo support.

Compared to Atlas ti, this is a lame and unnessary complicated software. Where in Atlast ti, you probably have 5 clicks to generate all the codes with all the references (quotations), the sources in one running document. I have never even imagined how a software could be designed to actually make life miserable! Gosh! this is 2022!

Thanks for your opinion on Atlas ti. I made this video in 2019, so maybe they've made improvements? And some people may not have the option to use a different program.
