Thanks for the video. Even the simplest tasks can be daunting and to have something this easy is a great help.

I don't know if you're on pinside by any chance? But if so, you should consider submitting this JP Channel of videos to the JP Club thread. I'm sure everyone there would love em. They are informative videos, short enough to get through without being bored, but thorough enough to understand all the details. pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/jurassic-park-club And if you're looking for video ideas, you could probably read a ton of them in that thread as well.

Yes, I am also Meloyelo51 on Pinside. I have posted in that forum and a couple others like the share your mods or if I come across a related thread to a product. I started off as doing Modern Warfare 3 videos (hence the homage in the intro). And back then learned that people on youtube have short attention spans, and don't want to watch more than they have to. Like I was looking for how to adjust my flippers last night and was surprised it wasn't as easy to find as it sounded, and the video I did find was a guy who is consistently 45-60 minute videos and had to skip around to find that type of fix. Great info, don't get me wrong, but I think short videos by task fit better.

At some point, I will be doing one for Ingo's as well (german-pinball on Pinside). He was really helpful when I thought I had an issue with my DMD saver that he makes, and has a version with a cool red LED lol He's just out of stock at the moment.

Thank you for your video Matt! very helpfull. I need to buy this NVRAM for my JP, and forget about those AA cells. One question, i have the version 5.1 on it, will it reset to the first version of the CPU when the batteries will be removed? or will it just reset the settings and erase the top scores and performance informations? Thank you by advance for your answer

Your title says "DMD+". I never ordered one because I was going to travel and wanted to wait. I'm back on the page now and there are several options. Every option is called "DMD+", so when I go to choose a chip I don't know which one to get. I also own JP btw. Am I getting the DMD+ 6116/6264 @ 29.99, or the DMD+ @ 19.99

I don't want to give you the wrong info on which one to order as I am not the actual seller, but I'll try and pass on what I found out looking into ordering the one I needed. This video is of the "$19.99 DMD+ version" if all you have is a JP and don't plan on changing it to another machine, get that one. To be honest, I went back to his instructions and I am confused the difference between the $29.99 one and $19.99 one. I would recommend contacting the seller through the site to answer that question. lockwhenlit.com/anyPinDMD+.htm As far as $39.99 vs $19.99 is what I had to decide for my personal purchase :) Long story short...if you are not comfortable soldering on a small pcb, spend the extra few bucks and get the "universal" one. If soldering doesn't scare you, and you don't need to replace a 5101, keep reading :) Some games require resistors to be added Basically the actual NVRAM chip is the same, but a few different models of the adapter are available to try and make them as cheap as possible if you don't need extra features, or don't care if it's universal. If you have several machines and may want to switch back and forth, then get the universal one that is dip switch selectable between 5101/6116/6264. [not really a good idea to repeatedly move them as you well lose the data when you change machines, but I needed an example lol] These are probably more appropriate for someone running games on route, huge game collection, or selling/trading games frequently. The cheaper ones are either a 5101 only, or one selectable between 6116/6264. However instead of a dip switch, you will have to solder/desolder the pads on the pcb to select which chip you are emulating. [as the pins are the same physical orientation when you plug in to your machine regardless of which chip you originally had.] Essentially, it's the same package with a dip switch soldered in place to the solder pads on the more expensive one. When ordering the cheaper one, I just told him which game I wanted it for he pre-soldered the jumpers for me, so I didn't have to do it myself, but if I changed to another game later that needs the other chip, I will have to.

Hi Matt. I am going to be getting my hands on a Starship Troopers and the original owner didn't even know there were batteries in the back at all. Yikes. Opened it up and was pleasantly surprised to see that the corrosion was kept to a minimum. (see here: i.imgur.com/LIpqva1.jpg ) With the fear of any acid falling into the board and traveling from the case, I kind of just ripped the whole battery holder out. Kind of a reflex thing of seeing that acid, it was probaly stupid just ripping it out. Do you think I should be worried at all about the + and - nodes? i.imgur.com/wPVhHLb.jpg I was told to just put some electrical tape over it and call it a day. I have my NVRAM ordered and can't wait to install it!

Atleast the CPU/Display rom upgrade is just as easy...you just have to do 2 so it takes twice as long. lol

The LED? Technically yes. I mean NVRAM can only do 1 thing...hold memory. Most people wouldn't need/care about it, but if you're troubleshooting a ram issue, it can easily indicate the socket has power. I don't really need another one...but I wanted to get one of Ingo's to support him because I've seen him giving alot of help in the forum and even did some prototype Twilight Zone clock board upgrade for free for a guy that didn't like something about the original upgrade to test a new version.

+meloyelo51 nah, installing nvram. Looks super simple. Really thought it was harder.
