What I like about stories like these is that it's completely grounded in realism, which I think only makes them more terrifying.

i like this. I found it interesting to show how Sodor is a safe haven for Steam Engines by implementing real world events. I also liked how there wasnt a happy ending, how it stays somber and quite bleak.

What a spooky discovery for Thomas. No wonder he was all on his own. I loved the nameboard on Thomas 😀.

I read the story on this and it's how I imagine it here. It sounds cheerful in the beginning until around the ending here. It sounds dark and glum when the truth of steam engines was found out. Especially when his driver and fireman told him how lucky he was to live and work on the Island of Sodor. Gives you a more realistic idea then what Big World Big Adventure shows.

So many engines are forever silenced.. when they could have been preserved… When thomas said “I want to go home..” that brought a tear to my eye…. Because.. that right there.. is heartbreak.

This is truly heartbreaking poor Thomas having to see that... the scene where Thomas enters the yards was really well done

This just makes me want to comfort Thomas. I'd like to imagine that was something the other engines did once he returned home to Sodor and told them of his encounter.

Man this was a really sad story. This is like a child learning a traumatic event. I feel awful for little Thomas.

Pleased to see someone has adapted this story. Prior to this no one had adapted this story. Or maybe someone has and I just haven't seen it. This has to be one of my favourite Richard Jordan stories.

Poor Thomas! Seeing all the lifeless scrapped engines is too much for him to withstand. Also, I gave a 200th like!

Now what I would love to see is a follow up with this. Make it set not to long after this and see how much it actually bothers him knowing not only his class, but all steam engines were being scrapped. I could see a scene where at his lowest point, gorden comes to comfort him given how he received similar news regarding his class being scrapped.

Without paranormal activity , demons or ghosts .... just the circle of life, with a kid who discover suddenly a sad true of life. Great video NWR1991.

This is another example of playing with darker tone done right. I'm glad to see stories like this instead of the creepypasta level junk I've encountered.

Peace to the fallen engines 😔

Now this is just sad just goes to show you that even the most happiest of places have not so happy dark secrets. And in the words of Metallica “you know it’s sad but true”.

Not only it's spooky, but it is just Sad. Thomas knows the truth about the scrap of steam engines

I love the paranormal stories, but I also love creepy stories based on the realities. I am one of those sentimental types who thinks even inanimate objects somewhat have a soul after years of service. I can never throw out things I used for years even after I replace them, not a hoarder btw lol. Really pains me knowing when amazing machinery like steam engines get mercilessly ripped apart after years and even decades of service. I understand you can’t preserve all of them, but it still it’s a crying shame.

what an interesting story I was thinking this would be an adaptation of the story, in a dark dark wood, but this was better
