NWS Louisville explains why tornado warning wasn't issued Thursday

I have been a Louisville resident just about all of my life and I'm 52. I have never heard of a tornado touching down in west Louisville. My wife is 49 and from Portland. She said the same thing. When you hear about tornadoes in Jefferson County it's the Valley Station, Fern Creek, Prospect, or far eastern part of the county. Churchill Downs and the Fairgrounds area are also targets but not nearly as much as the areas mentioned above. The NWS Office was around way before UPS.

NWS Louisville office opened in 1871 in the Customs House. I would definitely say the were around before UPS. They were around before airplanes

They have multiple field offices covering weather phenomena in many parts of the country. Your comment means you didn’t do what I asked in my previous comment. She says it at the beginning.
