I've only used inventor, hence why I'm watching this video. But why is he making all these boxes and subtracting instead of drawing the profile and extruding? He's doing more work than needed in my opinion.

The first day you work at the factory they tell you: all cad modelling you learnt is useless. The model must be done by removing material with other elements, just as the machines will do later, in that way, the machines will understand it better. Also it gives you more flexibility for future editions.

@@xabierferrero3664 I've been modeling in Inventor, in the field 10 years. Most things I make are way too big for a CNC. And if that were the case he'd start with one big block and trim everything down. How the model is created shouldn't affect the machines, they work from the final product. It also does not give more flexibility if you know what you're doing.
