I’m Italian and I run a Bar with kitchen,l can guarantee that a lot of Italians have cappuccino even in the afternoon, in fact I don’t agree with everything in this list. The only thing Italians really hate about Capuccino is when people drink it while having lunch/dinner like (usually ) germans often do. Perhaps they meant that Italians are more likely to drink an aperitif during that time but it’s not true that we don’t accept it at all.

The tap water is actually perfectly drinkably and follows strict standards, but we still don't like to drink it we're just think it's not as good (the water is drinkable but then it might taste a little different based on like the plumbing and we don't like that). At home we do drink it but we have special filter jugs that we always use. Actually: 1) yes 2) yes 3) nope, Italians often have Capuccino in the afternoon, we just hate when you drink it while having lunch/dinner. That’s sacrilege. 4) true that we prefer our breakfast to be sweet but there’s a lot of places that sells salty food for breakfast, it also depends on the city you’re visiting. Surely not eggs and bacon dude. 5) ABSOLUTELY YES,If you ask for cheese you will be insulted a lot. They’re right tho. 6) that’s bullshit. Cocktails while having a meal it’s very common, there’s a lot of restaurants that combine cocktails with their dishes. And since we’re fans of the “aperitivo” it’s very common that you stay for dinner too. We prefer to have a glass of wine with it but many people will having spritz or cocktails as well. 7)it’s not true that you can’t drink tap water and it’s not true that restaurant won’t give it to you for free, it’s just rude that you go to a restaurant /bar order a tap water,use the toilet and just leave. ( specially without asking or saying hi) If the restaurant won’t serve it to you it’s cause of laws of hygiene do not allow it ( even if 99% of the time the tap water is very safe and clean ) but it’s more likely that they won’t give it to you cause often people go to restaurant,order tap water,sit for hours and then leave. 8) true. 9) half yes half no. True that we prefer to relax with friends while eating and surely we have a lot of respect in the whole dining process but it’s also true that we have plenty of street food and markets, specially in the south. 10)we don’t share a normal size pizza but we have large or metro pizza for that purpose. 11)yes that’s just orrible. 12) the truest truth of truest truth. SHAME ON YOU. 13) LMFAO WHAT?!Who told you?? Don't agree on lot of things First of all, u can eat and drink while walking... it's not easy eating a pizza (of a single slice) while walking but whatever lol U can order a Cappuccino whenever u want to. If it's on their menù, u can order it. We don't usually share pizza coz we decide it beforehand if we want to share it. Italian pizza is not as big as American one, for example. U can order a bigger one ("a metro", as another viewer said) but u have to say it clearly, otherwise u will implicitly order a pizza for a single person. U can put ketchup and mayo on pizza. We rlly don't like it on Margherita and other pizzas with tomato sauce BUT u can use it on pizzas like chips n kebab or stuff like that. Also come with fish n cheese. Using cheese with spaghetti AND fish is kinda strange for us but nobody will tell you "yo bro, don't eat that tuna with some cheese cream, it's prohibited !!!" coz also some restaurant prepare that kind of dishes Last but not least, Italian never get drunk. Yeah, sure. We don't use alcohol. There're only like, idk, thousand bar that sells shot or birra at like 2 euro each and in big cities like Rome and specially Naples u can see at night, in particular from Friday to Sunday , a lot o drunken teens or men

I remeber having a coffee with an american friend in a cafe. She took well the classic american coffee which is a very big big cup for us and she enjoyed to talk a lot while having this big cup and in the meanwhile I ordered like three or four normal italian coffee to stay with her talking. In the end she asked me "But why did you take the american one, it's like your four coffes together!" Problem is: american coffee it's very light, so to follow her I didn't sleep that night because of pressure ahah And to be honest I LOVE the intercontinental breakfast, which is how italians call the english breakfast with eggs and becon and toast. But normally I enjoy it as a treat in Saturdays or Sundays :D I have to say tho, as an italian and a napolitan, the point about the pizza is not really true. It's true that buy one pizza for a group it's a little strange and usually we buy more pizzas with different flavors to share, but it's possible to share :) The real truth it's we like to eat, so one pizza shared it's not enough for us! About ketchup... I saw people cook past with eat, disgusting :D About drinks... I think that the reality is: italians, but in general europeans, start to drink earlier than americans so they are capable to be sober and resist more. But in formal situation italians usually don't like to lose too much control, is not really elegant. Then it's depend: if it's wine, italians like to enjoy it a lot and taste the flavour, generally they don't get drank with it (unless is a student party, the rules don't apply there :D) About the kiss on the cheek ahahah I don't know ho many foreigners I've kissed because we start from the "wrong" side. Especially in France! And we kiss A LOT.

At least in tuscany,especially if someone needs energy, after the work,it is quite common to ask for a cofee at the sixteen when someone has a meal called merenda, usually with a cornetto (croissant). Another very important thing: every wine has its name,,there is a red or a white type,no both. If you want some hints,and you still want,maybe,a white Brunello(it is only a red wine) you can ask: "i want a good white wine from the surroundings of Montalcino(the place where Brunello is produced),what do you suggest me?" In Italy, you have to watch out for little mice. They are full of them, some have alcohol problems. Once, when I was in Italy, I met a little mouse who asked me for a piece of cheese. I didn't have any cheese, so we started drinking vodka. The mouse complained that Italians often did not look at their feet and trample little mice. About the fact that fewer and fewer crumbs are lying on the streets and the little mice are starving.

Now, guys, I'm italian, and yeah it's true that we never eat while we're walking, but it's false that we also don't drink, while we walk, we drink without problems, coca cola, fanta, or others; the only think we never drink while we're walking is coffee.

You can say ciao in the informal restaurants/places. Nay, sometimes, the waiter say ciao for first. On the breakfast You can also eat small sandwiches and stuff like that.

Tap water it's actually good here, (there are very few exception which I will discuss later) it's just a misconception that we don't give tap water because it's bad, we offer bottled water because of etiquette, even in my very home, my mother give bottled water when people come visiting while we drink our tap water in a normal meal. the exception is a few rural places where water is polluted, and the water in the hotel room, especially on the higher floors, our buildings are often older than the history of america and we joke around saying that the water pipes are even older. ( obviously it doesn't apply to everyone, but better safe than sorry no ? ...) ps sorry if I butchered english, as you can see I am italian lol

@danighezzi5 ай бұрын
As an Italian I would like to dispel the myth according to which ordering a cappuccino in the afternoon is prohibited. It's not true, even if it's not usual, many Italians do it too. What you shouldn't do is order a cappuccino during your meal. In that case it may happen that a waiter refuses to prepare it, but only because he knows that the tourist would then feel sick to his stomach. Tourists never consider that in Mediterranean countries the cuisine is very different, especially in terms of condiments: ordering a glass containing a lot of milk (a simple latte would be different because in that case the quantity of milk is minimal) after eating foods containing onions, garlic, lemon, vinegar... it's the best recipe for feeling sick and shitting your pants :) if a waiter refuses to serve you, he does it for your own good... and to avoid stupid reviews like "they serve expired food and I was bad".

Many of the things you described in the video are not forbidden, but unusual. Do not be afraid to provide laughter, the Italians are nice and easy going (especially the exhibitors), they are having fun with you. There are no strict rules, only one I would like to say: In church you cannot dress as you please, women must be covered (shoulders and neckline) otherwise they will not let you in, you could cause serious embarrassment ( I do not agree with this silly rule )
@ettoreferrari85902 жыл бұрын
I appreciate you very much because you are a sunny and very nice person .. smile often and put a good mood .. thanks for this .. I am an Italian who has lived in northern Europe and in some Arab country. By now I no longer follow all the rules described in the video .. When I return to Italy and I am a guest of my mother and she sees me eating sweet and sour, drinking cappuccino even in the afternoon and together with pizza, well. . she tells me I'm strange (and that's the same reaction from my friends too) .. I have a lot of fun learning from all cultures ... I will continue to enjoy your every video .. you are cool !!

Personally, I don't like coffee that is too narrow, but neither do Americans like it, which is practically water. So I always take a macchiato, that is a coffee that is indeed espresso, but in addition it has milk, like cappuccino, but, the macchiato can be taken at any time, since it is not cappuccino and is served in normal coffee cups. coffee ... In addition, in the glass is better, that is when it is served in a glass cup!

We became more flexible about cappuccino. I'm italian, I love capuccino and I can order it at any time without surprising the barman. The only "sin" could be ordering cappuccino while eating.

11:05 you know, i don't think anything' s gonna happen but italians are very vocal about complaints especially in the spur of the moment. so you'd defenetly get shouted at, a lot, not very offensive remarks but defenetly a lot of "OOOOOOO!" "HEYHEYHEYHEY!" "WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING" and so on, i think dumbass, asshole or bastard are the worst things you'll hear; also you'll never be trusted near a pizza again.
