@@jkovert I have to agree, and the same probably goes for every other real major city (population over half of a million) in the US, as well. What is so wonderful about living next to cultural resources one can't make use of, because they're eternally locked down? This wasn't the first virus, it won't be the last, and what are the words we keep hearing? "The new normal" I'm not even sure that the cities of 100,000 - 500,000 will be sticking around. To those of us who would never join a gang, what do larger cities offer other than poverty, oppression and nightmarish violence?

I was in NYC when this was posted. Only four months before I was homeless walking around midtown just like this all night. This video is so nostalgic for that reason. I always tell people how gorgeous Times Square is at 3am when it's almost entirely empty. It's so peaceful and it feels like you're the only person on earth. Thinking about that time of my life also makes me ache for the homeless out there right now. I'm so lucky that I was able to take a break from the city to get back on my feet, but that's just not possible for some. If you happen to be in the city and get panhandled, please please consider actually helping them. Being homeless is no joke.

I love city life and miss it SO much! I've been to NYC and absolutely fell in love! Stayed for a week. I was such a different vibe! It was amazing! Thats been quite awhile back unfortunately, although Ive went to a lot of other places since then. I even lived in Pittsburgh PA for a couple years and loved it as well. Not as nice as New York but I realized that from visiting many different cities in my life and living in one that I am definitely a city girl all the way😊. I was at my happiest. I get so nostalgic and sad thinking about it and seeing the reality of where I am now. My home isn't bad and the neighborhood isn't awful but the ppl suck and it's just a boring small town. Unfortunately now I live in a very boring state. The town sucks. We have nothing exciting and it's so depressing 😒. All the decent shops and restaurants are at least 30mins away and it's not even all that great. Plus all the methheads etc. just makes it worse. I stay to myself indoors lol. I am an introvert here. I miss the walks at night in the city. Too afraid to walk around here. We don't have sidewalks everywhere either. Some places are ok but the weirdos that drive by and pass you walking make it awkward. For me being a girl, it's almost dangerous to walk alone unfortunately, even in the morning! In the cities, you have so many awesome coffee shops, diners, a variety of stores,museums, and just so many things to do! Not just f*ck*ng Walmart🙄 and the 3 or 4 typical fast food places and maybe a couple decent restaurants. I want to move SO bad but my issue is if I move, I must be able to have drs lined up whatever state I'd move since I am on meditations that I cannot miss and have a medical condition, etc. Plus dealing with getting insurance before I can even try finding Dr's and all that crap makes it a major headache. I only moved back here due to these issues. It was rough trying to get situated in other places. Now I am screwed. I wish insurance would not be state to state and could be all over. It makes it rough for many. If it wasn't for that I'd be outta here in a heartbeat! Hopefully I can at least take a trip soon! 😊 There is just something so magical about walking around the city late at night and I miss it SO much and watching these videos at least makes it feel a bit more real😄
@katsujinkin603 жыл бұрын
@@ChristinasMystery WOW!! I really feel what you're saying. I live in a state, and a neighborhood that makes me feel like a prisoner of war, especially at night. I used to love the night, now I dread it. The difference is, I was born and raised in N.Y.C.. My only experience with small town life was summer vacations with my great grand parents when I was little. Although I always had a love/hate relationship with The Big Apple, it was my native soil, and let's face it, one of the most interesting places on earth. I have also lived in Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, so city life is in my blood! Now I live in a place that The United Press referred to as (I kid you not. I have the newspaper article!) "The Nation's Emptiest Neighborhood!". New York had changed so much, and not necessarily for the best, that I felt the need for a fresh start in a new environment. Well Surprise, Surprise! I guess the joke was on me! I suppose the place where I live now would be called an "exurb", which is a nice way of saying, a whole lot of nothing. I am a grown man, and I don't feel particularly safe walking along the side of the road with pickup trucks whizzing by. Once in a while I get on a bus and go "Downtown". What a joke! I usually wander around for a couple of hours, and just get back on the bus and go back home. I have basically become a hermit. You sound like a fairly young person, and my advice would be Get Out While You Still Can!!! I have waited too long, and now I am too old to deal with transplanting my whole life to another place. I just don't have the energy, strength or optimism to start over again. Don't Let This Happen To You! I know what it is to have medical issues, and, what it's like to deal with bureaucracies. I have dealt with disability also, long before age made everything worse. It won't be easy, but do everything you possibly can to get yourself to a place where you can flourish. Life is so very short. You deserve to be happy and fulfilled. Don't let anybody stop you. It's your life, and you have the right to live it where and how you please! Don't wait, like me, until it's too late to matter. I will be praying, and pulling for you. Do what you must to find happiness!

Though the city's changed greatly, the atmosphere hasn't. This reminds me of walking the streets all night back in 1960/61 when I was between shows, hoping to find someone to sleep with or to get just through till the morning when I could sleep at a friend's place while they were at work. I walked mostly from 72nd Street to Sheridan Square and back or along 8th Avenue. I was too dumb to have any fear; though I was 6'2" I certainly couldn't fight. I never felt "homeless" because I knew I could get a job at Macy's or Gimbel's, but I preferred to wait for the next dancing job. A year later, I was living in Paris and still walking the streets all night, but this time cruising.
