Wow, growing some Spanish moss as well, that's neat, most people haven't tried that but it looks very southern.

Thanks! That was my goal. It appears that they survived this winter. It will get down to 20F this Sunday so hopefully it wont get much colder the rest of this winter

Snowdrops look perfect as well, mid February and they're up quite a bit, probably started blooming in late January perhaps. I see them at Longwood and they bloom right out of the ground practically.

I'm waiting until most the spring flowers emerge before laying more of the crushed clam shells

"Sabal minor New Jersey seedlings, Sabal Minor Welfare, Sabal Minor McCurtains, Sabal x brazoriensis Brazoria Palmetto Palm" Which sabal do you think is most cold hardy, or not quite sure yet. Thanks for the info. The unprotected sabal minors look good to me.

Sabal brazoriensis definitely is not the most cold hardy. Sabal Minor Welfare (Texas ecotype) has been doing great and was labeled 6B on Plant Delights. The McCurtain is also living up to it's reputation. Right now the McCurtain and Welfare are performing the same.

@@ShoeTELEVISION I guess the McCurtain and Welfare look like Sabal minors, the phenotype isn't changed? I think eventually with this type of plant breeding they'll come up with a 6a hardy Sabal minor someday.. Thanks for the interesting info, will check out how the garden develops this spring.

"Sabal minor New Jersey seedlings" So have you ever seen a naturally growing Sabal minor in NewJersey? Or are these from a garden planted long ago?
@ShoeTELEVISION10 ай бұрын
No, these are from a garden where the minors are producing seeds
